Book Description:

12 Masters. Infinite fantasies. Welcome to Blasphemy…

He wants to dominate her senses—and her heart…

Quinton Ross has always been a thrill-seeker—so it’s no surprise that he’s drawn to extremes in the bedroom and at his BDSM club, Blasphemy, where he creates sense-depriving scenarios that blow submissives’ minds. Now if he could just find one who needs the rush as much as him…

When an accident leaves Cassia Locke with a paralyzing fear of the dark, she’ll try anything to get help. Ready to fight, she knows just who to ask for help—the hard-bodied, funny-as-hell Dom she’d always crushed on—and once stood up.

Quinton is shocked and a little leery to see Cassia, but he can’t pass up the chance to dominate the alluring little sub this time. Introducing her to sensory deprivation becomes his new favorite obsession, and watching her fight fear is its own thrill. But when doubt threatens to send her running again, Quinton must find a way to master her senses—and her heart.

My Review:

So as you can see from my star rating if you looked, I loved Mastering Her Senses.  I adored Quinton and Cassia together. I have added Quinton to my Book Boyfriend list, which may not be as long as you might think, but he's definitely on there. I truly just fell in love with this two and how their relationship plays out.

Cassia made plans to meet with Master Quinton a night two years ago, a night that both she and Quinton were greatly looking forward to but that night came and went with no sign of Cassia until two years later when Master Quinton is called to help in an emergency situation at Blasphemy, an emergency involving the long lost but never forgotten Cassia.  What happened to her that caused her not to show two years ago, why is she back, why is she in the middle of one of the worst anxiety attacks Quinton has ever seen?  When he discovers her reasons and secrets will Master Quinton help or hurt her and can they both keep each other at arms length?

So first off I am just going to leave this right here:

Now most of you know about my 'Pratt Problem' my not so secret love of Chris Pratt and while the fact that Master Quinton is described as a Chris Pratt -esque type guy don't think that I stopped reading there and said 'Welp, I need nothing else 5 STARS'.  I am going to admit that having him in my mind as Quinton did not hurt in making my heart beat a little faster and perhaps fall a little harder for this book than I have for the other Blasphemy books, but there is so much more to this story then my favorite celebrity crush. *sigh*

I loved the kindness and honest caring that is Master Quinton.  I love that when he discovers Cassia's 'secrets' he doesn't just decide he can 'fix her' and somehow knows exactly how to do it, he believes he can TRY to help her, he talks to several of the other Masters, he researches her issues.  In so many BDSM stories we have characters that are dealing with some sort of difficulty and it feels like the character with the issue just stumbles upon the right Dom/Sub and they know exactly what to do and how to fix them or they fix them with out ever realizing what they are doing, they just do their own thing and boom, fixed.  But with Cassia and Master Quinton there is so much thought and care put into her challenges and the ways he can both get what he needs from their arrangement and give her what she needs to fight her 'demons'.

All of Laura Kaye's characters are written this way, with great thought put into who they are, what they need, and how to go about getting the most out of each other.  Her characters are always so well paired but there was just something about Cassia and Quinton that was perfect, they brought back the feelings I had for Laura's characters, Makenna and Caden from her Hearts of Darkness series.  That quiet beauty I love about those two is also found in Cassia and Quinton.  They aren't over the top outrageous, their love story isn't full of angst and frustration, their relationship isn't built on half truths, lies or omissions.  These two are honest with one another from the start and even for the brief amount of time where they are holding their feelings close 'to the vest' they are never emo about it.  They struggle with their own hearts, but never with one another.  I love that about them.

I loved their calm and the peace that comes from them across the pages, even though they are both such adrenaline junkies.  There is truly a feeling that I can't rightly explain to you and you will simply have to read the book to understand.  It is a rightness, a feeling of everything being perfectly in sync and you don't get that a lot in romances and for some reason in Erotic Romances.  I have found that most erotic romances tend to have this crazy drama going on, but Laura has found the balance and seems to have the knowledge that you don't need the drama, the story of the relationships, the BDSM scenes, the ultimate love the characters have for one another are enough and....well I guess that's the answer They Are Enough and that makes in beautiful.

I also loved that we got a look back at Griffin and Kenna, that we get to see the care he continues to take with her and the thought he puts into her needs (do you see the theme?) and also we got another glimpse into the Raven Riders, woot!  If you haven't read their series yet this is a great look into who they are and what they do, it will totally have you over on your favorite book seller one clicking or striding up to the counter to delve into the the Raven Riders world.

Really I can't go on about this book enough. I loved it, it filled up all the empty spaces I had been feeling with my last several romance reads, it made my heart light and happy and is truly one of my favorite reads so far this year.  I know I will get a lot of flack about it and my saying this doesn't take anything away from the Hard Ink Crew, they were my first foray into Laura Kaye books and I love them all, but Mastering Her Senses may have pushed a few of my favorite Hard Ink guys off my Book Boyfriend list, gasp!  There is simply just something about these two that make me want to read their story over and over again, I honestly never re-read books, other than Pride and Prejudice, but I could re-read Mastering Her Senses and never lose the feeling of joy and completion it left me with in the end.  I can't wait for Eyes On You, the third book in the series, these books just keep getting better and better and I know Master Wolf is going to keep on in the tradition of all the Masters at Blasphemy and make my heart melt.
