My Review:
I had so much fun reading this book. It is just a sweet quick romance that is the perfect weekend beach read and will leave you with a huge smile on your face.
What happens when two intense people who have been harboring secret feelings for each other for years come together...things get a bit wild, ice cream and drinks are had in excess, and love blooms and your heart swoons.
It was so great seeing these two characters get their happily ever after. I will admit that Chloe bickers a little more than is necessary at times. There were a few moments where I felt pretty bad for Dom, he has his hands full with this prickly pear, but of course that just makes the story that much more fun. When these two finally talk and get all their feelings out in the open it leads to one of my favorite romantic couples I have read in a while. They feel so real and natural. Their relationship isn't perfect, this is but isn't a new love so of course they have that rush of 'romance' but there is also a very real long lasting feel to their relationship, it's a relationship with an 'old soul' so to speak.
Dom is a quietly cocky character, he knows he has it going on but at the same time I almost feel like he is a little shy about it. Chloe is a strong woman who knows what she wants and how she expects to be treated but at the same time she is unsure of herself in the romance department. They joke about being like teenagers when talking about being girlfriend/boyfriend, but in all honesty they have that teenage love feel to their relationship..that giddy, unsure how to act quality but so grown up at the same time.
I will say the one thing I missed out on is the tI hadn't read any of this series before now. I didn't even realize this was not a standalone book (well it kind of is) until I began reading and was completely lost in the first chapter. It is not imperative once you get passed that first chapter to have read the other books but going in you will wonder what the heck is happening so to avoid that feeling I do suggest at least reading The Hook-Up Experiment first if not going back to Mellie and Jake's book, The Upside of Being Single. Another thing I missed and this just sounds so wrong of me to say, is that I wanted a little more sexy time between the characters, haha. There is a huge build up and a nice little scene, though for the build up I kinda wanted something 'more' and that the only one. It makes it completely sweet and I didn't hate not having more, but you kind of had to figure after 10+ years of these two characters fighting and secretly loving each other things would be a bit, wild for lack of a better word.
In the end those two things don't make or break the book for me though. I still feel like this was a great little read and what's the harm in a quick romantic comedy that will have you giggling and smiling through out and when you finish. If you are looking for something to give you a happy little buzz as you move through your TBR pile this is a perfect one to grab!
