My Review:

First off let me say I love Entangled Brazen's Serve series, it always gives me a little escape from my daily life and into a world of sexy, determined, caring men and beautiful strong, loving women, with just the right amount of spice and drama.  I also love that this long running series is a series that is made up of work written by several different authors so just when you think you have down a pattern of writing they throw in some one new and shake things up making it still exciting to pick up a book even when you are on number eight.  

I think Harper Kincaid did a beautiful job with these two characters.  She stepped away from the heavy feeling that can revolve around the BDSM lifestyles when have seen in previous books and gives us something a bit lighter although I think perhaps more impactful due to factors with in the story that do not revolve around the couples romantic life choices.  I loved David and Cassidy.  I enjoyed how David while having some typical alpha male traits was anything but typical.  He would not be what I would consider a classic Dom, he has certain predilections (the art of Shibari) yes, but not once did I feel as though he wanted to be necessarily controlling of Cassidy.  Cassidy, I loved her independent streak, loved that she was really just a regular girl...she wasn't some high powered wealthy socialite, she's a social worker with a difficult past who fought her way to get to where she is.  I loved that she wanted to find herself realizing after years of acting that she had never given herself the time to find out who SHE is instead of being who others wanted her to be.  

Bind Me Before You Go is a story about finding yourself, letting go of yourself, and letting others in.  I throughly enjoyed the romance between David and Cassidy, but I believe I enjoyed the sub-plot even more.  In fact my biggest complaint about the boo is that it wasn't long enough.  I wanted more of this couples back story, their romance, their sub-plot stories. I want a series that revolves around them alone because I think there is so much to explore between the two of them.  

If you are looking for a swoon worthy book to sit down for an hour or two with a glass of wine (or beer in my case, haha) and just relax this is a fantastic read.  I will warn you that while you will walk away pleased with the story as a whole you will like me want more of these two and wish you could pick up the next booking their imaginary series.  This is the first book that I have read by Harper Kincaid and it has definitely lead me to want to start one clicking on her other novels.  You can just feel all the love she put into this and considering it's length I can't even imagine how much I would enjoy her full length novels.  Grab this one up.  This is one case where you can definitely read this as a standalone even if it is part of a series...do I wish that you would read the whole series yes, but don't fret that you will feel as though you are missing anything, this is a perfect introduction into the series if you haven't read any of them before.  After this one you'll be starting at book one.

My Review:

Well we can start this review off with me saying that Liam is my favorite from this series and even I think from the 'parents' series, Corps Security.  Yes, you heard me right, it is hard not to fall in love with this southern boy that loves his parents, knows what he wants, sets out to get it, and does it in a sexy, kind, sweet, empathetic way while still holding on to his Alpha Male card.  Of course the fact that he's Beckett has nothing to do with that I am sure *winks*.

"I know, " she whispers.  "It's a Beckett thing." -Dee 

Liam 'Lee' Beckett is the son of Dee and John 'Beck' Beckett from Corps Security book three, Beck.  He's had life time of watching his parents love one another unconditionally and he knows that is the relationship he wants.  One that fills his soul with love, that gives him (more) family to cherish,  one that brings out the best in both partners, one that fights through the tough times so that it can shine in the best times.  The minute Lee sees Megan he knows that she could be the one he's been waiting his whole life for, now he has to be patient enough to find out if she really is.

Megan has lived a life filled with heartache, from her painful childhood to the loss of her husband.  She's become a fiercely independent woman and mother, but she's also stopped living.  Mired in her loss, she can't look past it to see that there is beauty outside of her daughter and a world just waiting to for her to join it again.  When Cohen (from Hope Town book 1, Unexpected Fate) brings her to his going away party she is thrust into  a group of friends that rally around her, but can she be pulled from her depression and see that there are people who love her (and her daughter) and just want t see her happy.

I throughly enjoyed this couple.  I loved how much Lee was willing to give, how far he was willing to go just to see Megan come back to life.  I also loved how independent and strong Megan is.  How much she cherished her daughter and the friendships she was creating.  She was a perfect person to bring into this very tight knit group.  Her reluctance to letting Lee in was perfectly understandable, especially as you get farther into the story and realize that her pain goes so much deeper than the pain of loosing her spouse.  She can't help but want the best for these two who fight so hard for what they want.  I also loved that while Lee has a bit of 'insta-attraction' going on it doesn't feel contrived.  He's a patient (very patient) man who knows what he wants and decides to go for it when he finds it but he takes his time and allows the relationship to build on its own rather than forcing it.

I also loved that unlike the first book in this series and past books in the Corps Security series there was no wild drama that occurred during the story.  No one got kidnapped, shot, or brutalized.  This is simply a beautiful love story full of friends and family.  It shows the strength of bonds and the simplicity in loving another person and being strong for them.  Harper Sloan writes amazing swoon worthy scenes that we all love but when you get right down to it she writes amazing stories about people and their struggles to find happiness and especially in this book where we find two characters that are easy to relate to.  You will find yourself tearing up all while smiling because of the simple beauty of this story.

It was wonderful to also see past characters coming back, obviously Lee's parents, but also Sway (can we ever really get enough of Sway?) and Dani.  And Molly....man Harper Sloan can write some of the most adorable children or child centered moments Ive ever read.  I loved watching the guys and girls of Hope Town grow up in Corps Security and she is giving us those same amazing, adorable, funny, sweet, cute, child friendly moments again.  Those moments always make me smile because in each book where a child is involved it is clear she has taken a wonderful and loving approach to how they will be portrayed and treated.  I also liked how Jack was portrayed and treated through out the book.  I appreciated how he became a cornerstone to the whole story, that he was never pushed aside to give the main characters room to grow into their relationship.  The one thing that did get to me though was that I felt like Jack got cheated a little bit in the end with how the relationship played out between he and Megan.  There was no doubt love on both sides...I just hate that I felt like his love was more than what hers was.  That is to to say she didn't love him because she did/does....it was just a little nagging feeling that bugged me because I wanted him to have had everything...but that's just me, lol.

This is just simply a beautiful love story with some amazing characters...I think Lee is beyond words...if you are a fan of Contemporary Romances you will definitely want to pick this one up.  You will be sighing with a smile on your face when you are done.  I promise this is one of those books that when you start it you won't be putting it down until you are finished!

Bleeding Love is a wonderful addition into the Corps Security/Hope Town family.  It can be read as a stand-alone but as you know I always suggest reading the series in order.  Do you have to go back and read Corps Security no, but I think that you will want to after meeting Dee and Beck!  You also don't have to have read Unexpected Fate but there are a few moments that come up that you will understand better if you have.

My Review:

I am going to be honest here (that's what we all want isn't it?) I could not get into this book the way I wanted to.  I was really excited about the idea of an adult fiction book from Ellen Hopkins, her YA books are always highly sought after and rated.  Ellen's writing style is beautiful, smooth, and easy to follow.  You won't, as often times happens in suspense novels, find yourself asking 'What just happened?' while searching back pages to figure out where you got lost.  Everything is laid out clearly and while you might feel that you aren't getting anywhere as the build up is a tad long when you do get to the end of the book a light will go off.  Of course then you might want to toss your book/e-reader because we get a cliff hanger basically.  I have to admit being very frustrated before I knew there would be a book two, ha.  

We meet Tara as she navigates her world of wealth and privilege, a world in which she has been married three times, once widowed, twice divorced, a world where she lives her life unapologetically and enjoys it.  During a shared ski vacation with her sister Tara is injured in a fall, taken to the hospital and introduced to a charming Orthopedic surgeon, Cavin, who will have her contemplating settling down for the fourth time.  The question she soon starts to ask herself is how charming and perfect is Dr. Cavin Lattimore?  Strange occurrences begin to happen and Tara has no idea who is telling her the truth and who is lying.  

I love the concept of the story. I love that it revolves around the life of a 40 year old woman who isn't afraid to live the life she has.  Who doesn't take anyones crap, who doesn't hold back her wants and desires because of societies rules of decorum for women.  We see how many books every day where it is acceptable for a man to live as he chooses and yet when women are portrayed this way in a book  (often in real life) they are looked down upon or spoken to using descriptive slang terms that I won't repeat here.  It was refreshing that this book lets the main character live her life the way she chooses and does it in a way that doesn't shed her in a negative light.  Now that being said, I did not like Tara.  She to me is simply an unlikeable character and it has nothing to do with her lifestyle choices and everything to do with her personality.  I wanted to like her so badly, and every time I started to feel a little remorseful for not liking her she would spout of some internalized monologue that made me want to reach through the book and give her a good shake.  In fact the problem for me with this book was I simply couldn't like any of the characters.  Now is that on purpose, I have no idea.  I don't know why an author would want to write a book where none of her characters seem to have any redeeming value, but of course as we get to the end we have to question if that is the intent because the way things are left I am not sure we are ever meant to find these characters likable.  I wonder if they are written the way they are to give us a glimpse at the ugliness of lies and deception.  A life where people choose to live only within their own set of rules, disregarding the thoughts and feelings of others, painting on their smiling faces while inwardly mocking everything and one around them.  

I had wanted to the story to be more explosive instead of this kind of quiet yet ugly (when I say ugly I mean as in the nastiness of the lies and falsehoods in the story) simmer.  When we get to the end things aren't totally cleared up, there are still so many questions to be answered and the ending just adds on a few more.     

I will say straight up Tara colored this book for me, meaning that because I could not like her it I could not get into it.  A lot of people won't have this problem, so don't not (yes, double negative anyone, ayyy) read this book because I couldn't bring myself to like the main character.  Read this book because it truly is well written, it has a interesting storyline, because it has a main character that isn't shamed for living her ADULT life the way she chooses, because the characters are (even if you can't stand them) complex, and best of all because there is going to be another book which I have faith will bring everything back around and lead to an explosive ending that will have us thankful we stuck with it.  

Please keep in mind:  This is NOT an Ellen Hopkins YA, do not pick it up thinking you are going to get the same thing, also please do not pick this book up if you are not a mature adult or have at least given this book to your parents to read first.

My Review:

Black Dawn is the 8th book in the Titan Novel series and while I hadn't read the other books in the series and had no trouble following along I would suggest that they be read in order just because you get little updates through out the book on past characters.  I will definitely be going back and starting from book one especially because I want to revisit any and all moments that Parker Black has been discussed, haha.

This story begins as we watch Lexi Dare, AKA  SilverChaos stepping out from her comfort zone behind her computer for an event and finding her life completely changed the moment she meets Matt Pindon.  Unfortunately for her the change is not a positive one.  In her quest to feel loved she ends up in an abusive relationship with a guy who plain and simple is an ass of epic proportions.  Her only joy comes from her overly chubby pooch, Bacon, her work (hacking) and those moments where she gets to assist long time rival/colleague BlackDawn.  Silver Chaos and Black Dawn have worked together on projects through the years, both staying anonymous but forming a friendship based off their work and love of technology, particularly hacking. 

Parker Black is Titan Security's tech guy, but don't confuse him with the stereotypical tech savvy 'nerd', this is a guy that can hack into any system and kick your ass as soon as he's done. He may not be the typical 'security commando' we have come to appreciate but that just makes him all the more interesting and swoon worthy.  

Lexi and Parker know each other because the giant ass we discussed earlier; Matt Pindon is a childhood friend of Parker's.  Parker and Lexi have danced around their mutual attraction for the past two years, Parker always knowing that something was off about Matt and Lexi's relationship but never able to pin down exactly what that is.  Then Lexi's latest hack puts her in danger and in the sight line of Titan Security and her relationship with Matt goes nuclear putting her in the direct line of sight of Parker.  

I don't want to give away too much because the book is full of twists, turns, action, suspense,and romance and each of these things tie into the other so talking about one leads to giving away hints and I don't want to do that.  What I will say is that Cristin Harber will keep you on the edge of your seat with Black Dawn although I will say there were plenty of times I wanted to smack a few character upside the head, but then that is not unusual for me, haha.  I loved the chemistry between Parker and Lexi.  Parker has this sweet, caring nerdy side that Cristin seamlessly combines with his Alpha male tendencies.   Lexi is a intelligent, beautiful, kick-ass lady who struggles with low self esteem and feelings of being unlovable due to abandonment issues from childhood.  Together they are  simply an amazing couple ready to take on the worlds worst all while finding the happiness and love that had eluded them until now.  

Be aware that there is a strong theme of emotional and physical abuse in the story so if you have trigger issues you need to go in with a lot of caution.  The scenes between Matt and Lexi can be pretty brutal and emotional.  

We also meet a few new characters and I am excited to think that perhaps there will be more to this series or a spinoff

This is a great series for suspense, military based, and contemporary romance fans.  It can be read as a stand alone, but I promise you will likely want to read the rest of the series after finishing this one so I suggest starting at book one.  You won't be lost if you don't, but things will happen that will reflect back to past stories.
