None of the accolades mean anything, though, without his high school sweetheart, Bree Sutton, by his side. Four years ago, she walked away from Kyler, choosing a quiet life over the flash and notoriety his career would someday bring.

Now he’s back in their Indiana hometown, refusing to leave for Los Angeles without her. Demanding she give their life together a shot. Her heart never stopped bleeding for the love of her life, but Bree’s decision was final. Too bad their wild attraction has only been amplified by their separation, and Kyler won’t quit until Bree is wearing his ring.

My Review:

Okay, let me just wipe these happy tears of joy away so that I can give you a proper review...hang on, man they just keep coming and my heart is so light...just a minute.

Seriously Tessa Bailey is one of my favorite authors for so many reasons; she's just plain an awesome human being, she's the Queen of Dirty Talk, she knows how to weave an emotional journey, when one of her books is in my hands she is the keeper of my heart.  She never fails to give me everything I need in a romance, EVERYTHING.  These are amazing characters with tight knit friends and family. There are honest, believable challenges and resolutions that make sense.  There are moments of pain but so many wonderful moments of joy to balance them out.  There are sexy, sweet, alpha, hardworking men and beautiful, fierce, alpha, (yes, she can write an alpha woman, it isn't just a male thing) hard working women.

I never walk away from one of Tessa's books thinking 'oh that was just a great read'.  No, I walk away thinking she may have changed my heart forever.  Her books are of course always great reads, but they are more than just books.  These characters are more than just another book boyfriend or girlfriend, her characters become your family and they stay with you well past when you have forgotten about most other characters and moved on.  There is no moving on from a Tessa Bailey character, they take up residence in your heart and mind and pitch a freaking tent, with the comfiest air mattresses and fluffiest sleeping bags, and they don't forget their pillow, because they intend to stay a good long while.

Too Close to Call is a wonderful addition to the Romancing the Clarkson's series, it was one that came as a surprise for me. I didn't know until not long after Too Hard to Forget, that Kyler would be getting his own story. Now, I don't know if that's simply beause I was so wrapped up in Coach and so anxious to get my hands on Belmont's story that I hadn't been paying attention or if it is because Tessa didn't even know Kyler would be 'knocking' on her brain, but regardless I am SOOOO happy that this book came into existence.

We meet Kyler Tate in Too Hard to Forget,  (click link for my review) Elliot and Peggy's story  and it is near impossible to not fall in love with him and if some how you managed not to you absolutely will in this book.  Kyler is the best kind of 'book boyfriend', the kind that you wouldn't mine just being friends with in real life because he is so amazing to "his girl".  He's the kind that ruins you for all other book boyfriends because he is the whole package of sweet, driven, protective, loving, funny, alpha, etc.  Tessa took all our favorite characteristics and turned them into Kyler Tate and trust me when I say it is a beautiful, beautiful thing.

Bree, is an amazing Heroine.  I totally can see why she chose the path she did, I felt for her and my heart ached for her.  I adored how much she loved her sister and father, how much she was willing and did give up for them, but I also love that she didn't quit he dreams all together when one dream ended.  I loved her drive and her spirit.  She is the introvert in all of us who has that little bit of extrovert just needing a push to be let out.  She is the kind of woman you just want to sit around with and have a several drinks and she'll have you laughing and smiling so much that not only will your head hurt lightly tomorrow but so will your face. She is the kind of woman that you know will leave a memory in your heart every time you are with her.  It is so easy to see how she would have taken up all of Kyler's heart and there could never be anyone else.

As always with a 1,001 Dark Nights (click link to visit their website) novella, you do not have had to read the entire series before picking up this book.  There is a tie in to Coach and Peggy's book but it is just that, a tie in.  You won't be lost and you won't have ruined anything by reading out of order.  I do however suggest just going ahead and buying all the Romancing the Clarksons books because you need them in your life plain and simple.

Too Close to Call is a beautiful love story, it is short (novella length) but perfect.  Nothing feels left out or left undone.  There is simply so much perfection in the way that Tessa wrote this book I am afraid if I continue on much longer I will start waxing poetic.  This is the book that will bring you out of any romance reading slump you might be in.  This is the book to lift your spirits if you are feeling down. This is the book that is going to have us smiling as we go into what I know will be a extremely emotional read in Belmont and Sage's story.  This is a book that you are going to put on your shelf and when people say to you, 'what is one romance book that you would recommend to any new reader' you point to it's cover and say this one, this one right here!

~HAPPY READING ~

Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans, and laptop, and drove cross-country to New York City in under four days. Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend, and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.

She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband and daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.
