Book Description:

He’s infuriating…

Dempsey Jones has been a nuisance my entire life, the straight-laced Boy Scout grown up to be a firefighter, of all things. He was the one helping kittens out of trees and old ladies cross the road while I was lighting cherry bombs with my best friend in abandoned buildings, and now that we’re all grown up—even if my Dad doesn’t agree—he’s still just as annoying.

She’s impossible…

Taite Ridley has been a constant my whole life, the curly haired mischievous daughter of the police chief, charming and devious and alluring. She was wild in ways I never dared to be and too big for our little town. But she’s here, a small town cop, and I can’t avoid her, even if I wanted to.
And I don’t want to.

It’s like mixing fire and gasoline and when these two collide, someone is gonna get burned…

My Review:

What a fun and heart warming little contemporary romance.  I throughly enjoyed this new book from Nazarea Andrews and am looking forward to the future of this series.  I loved the best friends to enemies to lovers aspect of this book as well as the small town vibe it has going on.  Though I will say that the small town vibe also made it confusing a time or two for me when I was trying to figure out who is who, who is a parent, who is a sibling, who is a best friend, who is a couple....There are a LOT of names thrown at you with this set up and it can get overwhelming, but that would truly be my only complaint.

Taite is not only a police officer in the town she grew up in, she's also the police chief's daughter!  Dempsey isn't just the hometown all-star and firefighter, he's also the mayor's son!  These two have spent their entire lives orbiting each others universe.  First as best friends when they were children, then reluctant (though maybe they didn't know how reluctant) enemies as teens and 'new adults', now they've found their way back into orbit and oh how things will come crashing together, again, and again, and again... *waggles eyebrows*

This book was a great mix of fun, heart break, sweetness, swoon, and joy.  It is one of those books you just pick up, sit down, and let the world melt away around you until you're done reading.  I don't know about you but I love that type of book.

I loved the rivalry between the fire and police department, I can truly see that happening in every small to medium sized town.  I loved the interactions and relationships between family and friends.  Though I will say Dempsey's sister (s) and one of his best friends, I have whole lot of side eye for you and can't wait for you to get your 'own'.  (mmmmhmmmm, just sayin')

There are some really poignant moments and if you have ever lost a family member (heck even if you haven't) some moments where you will struggle deep down with your emotions.  Both Taite and Dempsey have had terrible loss in their young lives but that's what makes there final reunion all the more sweet.  Once they let down their barriers and fully open up it is a think of beauty.

If you are a contemporary romance fan I can not recommend this book enough.  I think you will fall in love with it as much as I did and be on the edge of your seat waiting for the future of the River Street Bar patrons!  <3

~ HAPPY READING ~
