About the ELEMENTS OF FIVE series

One thousand years ago, there was one realm of magic. The Maison Realm. It held five kingdoms with five kings or queens, who worked together to keep the Maison people safe and ensure the balance of magic. Over the last five hundred years following the Fall, the great war that began the fracture, many of the kingdoms’ inhabitants intermated, and the magics soon became tied to one another in pairs. Except for the Spirit Wielders.  The two remaining kingdoms are now converging, and the veil between the two is fading. Only the human realm lies between the two, and no one there knows there is a war surrounding them.
Over time, certain children of the Fall began to leave their respective kingdoms to venture into the human realm in search of the prophesied Spirit Priestess who is said to wield the Elements of Five and bring the two fractured kingdoms together. For the realms are dying without their sister magics. And soon, there will be no more power left to rule the kingdoms, for there will be no more kingdoms left to rule.

Dark Alpha's Hunger by Donna Grant - Excerpt Reveal

I am beyond excited to help in sharing an excerpt from Donna Grant's DARK ALPHA'S HUNGER with you today!

DARK ALPHA'S HUNGER is the highly anticipated 6th installment of the Reapers series.

If you're a fan of paranormal romance, you're going to want to get your hands on this!

BOOK DESCRIPTION:

Dark Alpha's Hunger is the sixth paranormal romance novel in New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant's Reapers series featuring a brotherhood of elite assassins who wage war on the Fae at Death's behest--and the women who change their hearts.

There is no escaping a Reaper. I am an elite assassin, part of a brotherhood that only answers to Death. And when Death says your time is up, I’m coming for you…

Where Death leads, I follow. Nothing will stop me from my duty – not even the darkness that claims me. It’s the music that leads me from the dark, returning me to my brethren and a new foe that has risen. Learning who hunts Thea could be the key to unraveling what we need to know to defeat our enemy. The Half-Fae’s music stirs a passion within me that I’ve never known. For her, I will break my vow of silence. For her…I will risk everything.

Excerpt:

Even over the noise of the city, Eoghan heard the violin. As soon as the first strains of the song reached him, everything else faded away. He couldn’t ignore the music any more than he could stop using magic.
He hadn’t known what drew him to Dublin—until he heard the strings. The closer he got to the pub, the more the music seemed to wrap around him, tugging him near. And holding tightly.
Eoghan didn’t mind. In fact, he sought out the sound. He needed to know who played the instrument. Was it the pretty woman who’d helped pull him through the portal? Or someone else?
Remembering Rhi’s words about his eyes, he called forth a pair of sunglasses and put them on before entering the tavern. The place was packed with people as eager as he was to hear more of the music. He shouldered his way through until he found a place near a wall. Normally, this kind of crowd sent him the other direction, but tonight, he didn’t think of leaving.
As soon as his gaze landed on the woman swaying as she played the violin, he inwardly smiled. Her blue hair wasn’t something he would ever forget. The mix of various shades of blue suited the tempestuous nature he’d glimpsed in her gaze the night before.
She had her eyes closed, completely lost in the music, moving from one song to another without missing a beat—as if she were performing for the notes, not the people. Slow or fast, it didn’t matter. The woman had serious skill.
Then again, he expected nothing less from a Halfling.
He eyed her black jeans encasing long legs and the black lace, long-sleeved shirt that scooped low in the front to reveal just a hint of cleavage. The black, high-heeled boots elongated her legs.
There was a flash of sparkle through her hair. Eoghan then spotted the mismatched earrings through the strands. One was a crown that hung from rhinestones, and the other a scepter.
Some might argue that her blue hair and shiny jewelry drew attention, but Eoghan knew the truth. Most only saw her hair or the solid black clothes and looked away in disgust or stared at her tresses, trying to figure out the exact shade. Few ever really noticed her face.
It was the perfect disguise for a half-Fae wanting to blend in.
Compared to her bandmates who were eating up the attention of the crowd, the Halfling was almost removed from it all. As if she preferred solitude but endured people in order to share the music that fell as easily from her as breath.
Eoghan’s lungs seized when she suddenly opened her eyes and locked gazes with him. Even from a distance, he knew those orbs held every shade of brown imaginable from a mix of raw umber and caramel to flakes of dark brown.
There was the slightest parting of her lips to let him know she recognized him. Now that he knew she was the one who had led him out of the darkness as well as pulled him through the portal, he owed her a great debt—one he feared might never be repaid.
He intended to cast magic that would alert him if she were ever in danger from humans or the Dark, but especially from Bran. He planned to do it as he followed her home.
When the band played their last song and walked from the stage, Eoghan made his way to the back of the pub to wait. He knew as soon as the door opened that it was the Halfling before she even stepped out.
He hadn’t planned to talk to her or even let her know he was near, but then he looked at her face. The next thing he knew, he’d spoken. The words sounded rough and raw, even to his ears.
Her head swiveled to him, and he walked from the shadows straight to her. The soft curve of her lips when he told her that he was in her debt made his blood heat. It took a moment for him to realize that it was lust that burned through him. It had been a long, long time since he’d felt it.
Memories from the night before as he’d covered her body with his when the dolmen exploded filled him. He recalled the softness of her body, the warmth of her skin. The smell of mint from her hair. He wanted so badly to touch her that he fisted his hands.
Death had sent him on a mission. Already, Eoghan wasted valuable time seeking out the Halfling. He needed to cast his magic and leave.
But she was near enough to touch. By the stars, it had been too many eons since he’d last yearned for the touch of another. If only the Halfling would raise her hand to his cheek or even his shoulder. Anything.
So long as she put her hand on him.
“I’m Thea. Thea Keegan,” she said. She raised a brow. “And you are?”
He parted his lips to answer when something materialized behind her. The Dark smiled at Eoghan. Without hesitation, Eoghan grabbed her against him and spun, bending over her and acting as a shield so the force of the magic landed on his back.
Blistering pain zapped through him as ball after ball of magic pummeled him. There was no time to fight the Dark, not with Thea. He glanced at her before he teleported both of them away to the roof of a building.
His knees gave out, pitching him forward. Eoghan caught himself with one hand and struggled to keep from falling on top of her.
“You can let go,” she said.
His muscles were locked with pain. It took a couple of tries before his arm finally released her. She moved from beneath him and climbed to her feet. Eoghan dropped his head and used both hands to keep from falling on his face.
“Dear God,” she murmured from beside him.
He closed his eyes and let his body heal the wounds. The Fae’s magic ate away at his skin, muscle, and bone like acid. One of the perks of being a Reaper was faster healing, as well as stronger magic than other Fae, but that didn’t make the pain any less excruciating.
The minutes ticked by without another sound from Thea. She remained beside him, and he could only imagine what was going through her head. Though he was immensely grateful that she wasn’t bombarding him with questions.
When most of the throbbing diminished to a level where he could breathe easier, Eoghan rocked back onto his haunches and rested his hands on his thighs. Then he opened his eyes and turned his head to her.
Thea’s face was a mix of panic, alarm, and curiosity as she set her violin case by her feet. Her brown eyes held his as she squared her shoulders. “I believe you were about to tell me your name.”
No hysterics, no demands, no fear. The more he was around Thea, the more he liked what he saw.
“Eoghan.”
“It’s nice to meet you, Eoghan. I don’t suppose after what happened last night and just a moment ago that you’d feel the need to fill me in, would you?”
He rotated his shoulders, stretching out his newly healed skin before he removed the remnants of his shirt. Then he climbed to his feet and used his magic to replace the garment with another.
Thea’s eyes briefly widened, but she stood her ground and waited.
“Why do you color your hair so?” he asked.
She hesitated only a minute before replying. “I like to do something different.”
“It’s not to keep other’s eyes off your face?”
Her brows snapped together. “How . . . ? Why would you ask that?”
“Those like you either embrace who they are or hide. The hiding seems to be instinctual, I’ve found.”
“Those like me?” she repeated, her frown deepening. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Eoghan looked out over the city. He really wished Cael or one of the other Reapers were there to tell her. He was never very good at imparting such news.
“Eoghan,” she urged.
His gaze swung back to her. “Why do you dye your hair?”
This time, she didn’t pause in answering. “Because people look at it and not my face. And before you ask, I don’t know why I don’t want others to look at me.”
“It’s because you have Fae blood.”
She swallowed nervously and dropped her arms. “I see. Did I bring us up here?”
“I did that.” When she stared at him blankly, Eoghan sighed. “You’re getting a crash course in this, and I’m sorry about that. I’m a Light Fae. The man who attacked us in the alley is Dark Fae. You can spot them because of their red eyes and the silver in their black hair.”
Thea nodded slowly, her face blank.
“I had no intention of telling you any of this. I was going to leave, but the Dark showed up.”
She continued to nod, her face folding into anxious lines.
“Are you understanding me?”
“You’re Fae. I’m half-Fae.”
He lifted one shoulder in a shrug. “Aye. That’s the gist of it.”
“I need more.”
Eoghan ran a hand down his face. What she wanted was for him to talk more. After so many millennia of silence, he was finding it difficult.
“Do you not want to tell me?” she asked.
He shook his head. “Until you pulled me from the portal stones, I went a very long time without speaking.”
“Oh.” She shoved a lock of hair from her face. “If it’s too much, then don’t—”
“The Fae come from another realm, but our civil war destroyed vast parts of it. Most have chosen Earth as their home. Ireland, in particular. The Light Queen takes the north, and the Dark take the south.”
Thea blinked, her lips forming an O.
“I’m part of an elite team who is hunting a rather nasty Fae bent on slaughtering Death. Aye, Death is a person,” he said when he saw the question fill her eyes. “Bran has become a nuisance that has to be stopped. He was the one who sent me to that other realm with a beast that was hunting me. I heard your music and followed it right to the doorway the Halflings and Druids built eons ago to go between realms.”
She blew out a long breath. “I think I need a drink.”
“It’s the mention of the Druids that got you, isn’t it?” he teased.
Her look of disbelief faded as she rolled her eyes. “You don’t look like someone who jokes.”
“I’m not, but you looked like you needed the distraction.”
She smiled, laughing softly. “I did. Tell me how you know I’m part Fae?”
“You’ve the look of us. It’s your beauty, but a Fae always recognizes another. Does no one in your family know?”
Thea hunched her shoulders as she shivered against the cold. “I’m an orphan.”
“So am I.” He wasn’t sure why he told her that. It was a part of his past that he rarely thought about. “We should get you out of the night air.”
She looked at his outstretched hand. “You brought us here, right?”
“I did. And I’m going to take you wherever you want to go.”
“Really?” she asked with a tantalizing grin. “Anywhere?”
He nodded. “Anywhere.”
“I want to see the pyramids of Egypt.”
Eoghan kept his hand out and waited for her to take it. She studied him as she reached for her violin case. As soon as her palm slid into his, he teleported them to the great pyramid.
“Bloody hell,” she murmured and stumbled back, nearly dropping her case when she spotted the monuments.
He steadied her with a hand as her head tilted back to take in the grand structure before her.
“You really are Fae.”
It had been a long time since Eoghan was around anyone with so much enthusiasm. He was supposed to be finding the other Reapers, though Death hadn’t told him how to do that. But he couldn’t seem to leave the beautiful, beguiling Thea just yet.
Her head turned to him. There was a huge smile on her face as her eyes sparkled with excitement. “I’ve always wanted to travel. The pyramids have always fascinated me. Thank you for this.”
The smile that had begun to form on his face died when he spotted the veiled Fae about two hundred yards away. A quick glance around showed five more.
It looked as if he didn’t need to find the Reapers. They had found him.

My Review:

Another sweet, sweet read from Carrie Ann Ryan.  I knew that Fox was going to be an amazing characters.  He's not the outward brooder that his brothers are and he doesn't keep his feelings in quite the same but he is still very much a quiet sort that needs time to process his life before he makes decisions.  That for me was both a good and a bad thing, especially since it seems Melody is a bit of the same way, but I digress, I still adored him.  He is a perfect Carrie Ann Ryan hero, loving, sweet, a bit emo, total protector; everything I have come top love about her characters.

Melody stole a piece of my heart.  I really connected to her in a lot of ways.  She is a dancer who had to stop dancing do to injuries and now finds herself in a position of trying to rediscover who she is.  When you are a dancer, not having that as your identity anymore is something hard to come to terms with.  A dancer spends their entire lives becoming that and to have it taken away before you are ready can be devastating emotionally.  She is also a person who carries the world on her shoulders and takes too much responsibility into her hands.  She may even know that situations were completely out of her control but still can't take some part of it on herself.  I loved how Carrie wrote her, how honest she was with Melody's feelings, her fears, her excitement, her joy, her love.  She really came alive on the pages for me and I could easily place myself in her shoes and that makes for a wonderful character and read.

Together Fox and Melody are a beautiful couple.  I loved how they never forgot one another, how they never truly give up on one another, how they work through things as adults and without a tremendous amount of drama.  Also, their 'private' moments, woah!  It's always the quiet ones ladies, haha.   The one thing that brings this down to a four star for me was just the amount of 'we're gonna talk', but then we kissed and now I can't be here with you are we might do more and never talk, thought I know how much we REALLY need to talk, but I have to leave so I don't ruin this and we can talk...later.  It took a long time for these two to finally have their conversation and considering the importance of what they needed to talk about that threw me off a little.  It's not an overly major thing and probably won't bother any other reader, honestly it doesn't ultimately change my feeling about the book, I think it is a great read, it just made me want to skip parts and I hate that.  I also got a little irritated with Melody for brushing off so many things as a 'prank' or someone confused.  I adore that Carrie always gives us a little mystery, there is always some suspense and action with these stories but at the same time I just wanted Melody to say a bit sooner, 'you know what', maybe, just maybe, there is something to all these instances that keep happening.  It's great build up, but at the same time I have to think would anyone really just say to themselves, 'hey this weird stuff has happened three times now, but it's probably nothing, lol.

Overall though, I throughly enjoyed this book, as I do all of Carrie Ann Ryan's books.  You can feel all the love and soul she puts into each one, it comes though in every look, every caress, every sigh.  She creates families that you want to be a part of.  Families that you care for as much as they care for each other.  Having a rough time, read a Carrie Ann Ryan book, need a break from the real world, immerse yourself in one of her worlds, just need a perfect read to leave you happy and content, Carrie Ann Ryan is your writer.  She never fails to move my heart and have me sighing in contentment as I close the last page.  I am overly excited to get my hands on Loch and Ainsley's book.  I think maybe this one will be a little bit more tense and drama filled than the past two books ( at least when it comes to the relationship) and honestly those kinda books always make me so anxious I can barely get through them but I can not wait to go on Loch and Ainsley's journey with them.  It is going to be a wonderful way to wrap up this series.

~ HAPPY READING ~

WHISKEY REVEALS:

By the time the cable box lay forgotten on the coffee table, wires and empty cups of tea next to it, two hours had passed, and Fox was ready to throw the damn thing across the room. “It’s haunted. That’s the only thing I can think of.” Melody sat next to him, the heat of her thigh pressed into his. His cock was beyond ready, and he had a feeling he was just going to have to get used to a perpetual state of hardness from now on. “I cannot believe we tried fourteen things, finally got the place on the phone, and it’s still not working.” He’d lost any cred he might have had with being able to fix things. And all because of a damn cable box. “I hate it. They may be sending a new one— which they wanted to charge us to install. At least between us, I think we convinced them to do it for free— but they still wouldn’t tell us if we lost the DVR settings or not. Grandma isn’t going to be happy.” Fox reached out and squeezed her hand. “We’ll figure it out.” He liked saying that. We. As if it were the two of them. Friends, he reminded himself. They were friends. “Thanks for everything, Fox. I guess this isn’t how you wanted to spend your day.” “It’s what friends do. And I had fun, even when we were yelling at the damn thing. I should go, though, since I bet you have work to do, and I promised myself I’d get my yard looking somewhat decent.” They both stood up as she smiled, and he had to do his best not to reach out and touch her. It wasn’t easy, but he was stronger than the temptation. Maybe. “I owe you one,” she said softly as they walked to the front door. “Seriously.” “I’ll put you to work doing yard work if you want.” She laughed again, and he took it in, the sound soothing his soul. “I don’t know if I owe you that much.” They paused in the foyer, their gazes meeting, and a heated silence stretching between them. “This doesn’t count as the owing,” he whispered then kissed her, knowing it was a bad idea. He crushed his mouth to hers, her gasp lost in the kiss. Soon, her back was against the wall, his hands on her face as he deepened the kiss. He didn’t touch her anywhere else, and their bodies remained a breath apart, but they were close enough that he could feel her heat. She tasted sweet and sinful and everything he ached for. When he pulled away, their bodies shook, and he forced himself not to kiss her again. “That was…” she whispered. “A mistake,” he finished, not missing the hurt in her eyes. “I’m sorry. I know we’re trying to be friends.” “And kissing complicates things.”

Book Description:

JADE:
Twenty-four hours. A no-strings-attached adventure with the most gorgeous man I’ve ever seen—this was my alcohol-slash-lust-fueled proposal, and given before I could consider the potential ramifications. While his looks alone are enough to make a girl swoon, it’s the rest of him—a perfect balance of mysterious, sweet, and effortlessly charming—that draws me in. Through his cryptic comments and half-answers, he’s quickly become an enigma I’m determined to solve.   One way or another, this adventure promises to snap the stagnant, lackluster pattern my love life has been locked in lately. Is it naïve and a little reckless to think this won’t blow up in my face? Probably. But the bigger question is the only one I need to answer… Is the chance to soar among the stars worth the risk of being burned when the sun eventually rises?

EMMETT:
Love is a mistake I won’t make again. My rules are simple. Keep things surface-deep. Don’t make plans. And never, ever get attached. One look at her is all it takes for me to break my first rule. One conversation with her is all it takes for me to question everything. Which means accepting her proposal is bound to be a mistake. She has no idea who I am or what kind of demons I live with, so I tell myself there’s no harm in spending one day with her. But the more I lose myself in her, the more she brings me out of the darkness and into her light, the harder it’ll be to let her go. When reality comes crashing down on us in the worst way possible, I have to decide between walking away…or risking everything for the woman who breaks all of my rules.

Exclusive Excerpt:

Jade,” I bellowed when she was nowhere to be seen in the living room or kitchen. I darted glances down both hallways visible from the living room, one leading to the bedrooms and one to the office. My feet knew which direction to go before my brain did. Not surprising, considering which part of my anatomy is running the show right now. All those thoughts of ways I wanted to make Jade pay for torturing me earlier evaporated as soon as I stepped into the office. I had half a second to take in the sight of her, casually leaning against my desk looking drop-dead gorgeous in a dress that would’ve looked even better discarded on the floor, before she launched herself into my arms. I welcomed her assault and hauled her body against mine. “Missed you,” she drawled against my lips, while her hands looped around my neck. “Missed you too, pretty girl,” I replied before sealing our smiling lips together. Keeping her in place, I walked backward to the desk and eased Jade down on an empty spot. I allowed my hands to glide over the silky material of her dress along her waist, my desperation for her growing with each inch of fabric I covered. She leaned into my chest, fisting the hair along the base of my skull and pulling me closer. My hands traveled along her ribcage until they were parallel with her perfect, full breasts that begged for my attention. My thumb grazed her peak, and she moaned into my mouth while letting her legs fall open so I could close the last remaining space between our bodies. Her hands worked furiously at the tie around my neck while I stripped off my suit jacket and let it fall to the floor. I immediately dropped my hands to the hem of her dress, tugging it up to finally expose those legs I’d spent half my day wanting wrapped around my body. I leaned back just enough to get a better view of her. My eyes couldn’t decide where to linger—the rise and fall of her chest, the garters attached to those damn stockings on her thighs, or the shadow her dress cast between her legs beckoning me in. Godfuckingshit. “I hope you’re not overly attached to anything you’re currently wearing, because I don’t have the patience to be gentle right now,” I warned, my eyes scanning the length of her once more before landing on her face. Her legs hooked around my thighs to pull me closer, and she peered up at me with hungry, hooded eyes. “Took you long enough, Boston,” she rasped with a smile, fingers finding the buttons of my shirt.

My Review:

I had a lot of fun with this review because it isn't really as much of a review as it is DINNER! Haha

I was really lucky to be accepted to be on this tour because it involves two of my favorite things, books and cooking.  I have enjoyed the chance to make some of Suzanne M Johnson's recipes in the past through her work with Lexi Blake on the Masters and Mercenaries Bits and Bites so when Inkslinger PR asked for bloggers to help with this blog tour I jumped at the chance.  The Man of the Month books are such fun, swoon worthy reads and food playing such a central role in the stories I couldn't want to get the chance to try out some of these food that make me drool as I read about them.  Before I show you what I made I also want to mention how much I love the little 'Slice's of Life' we get in the actually cookbook.  These quick looks into the lives of some of our favorite characters are always a fun way to peek in to the worlds we have already 'left' but have been missing since we closed the last page in each characters book.  Also, let's just talk about how each month's recipes have not only some fun foods that are totally yummy but drinks to go along with them and y'all know I am totally down for that, ha!  I think I may need to have a re-read party for each Man of the Month and make the recipes that go along with it, any one else in?

I chose two recipes, we'll start with the yummy:

Mushroom Spinach Risotto Balls

2 tablespoons butter

2 cups sliced mushrooms

1/2 cup diced Vidalia onion

2 cups Arborio rice

1/2 cup white wine

7 cups chicken broth

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and pepper to taste

1 box of frozen spinach, thawed and drained

2 cups all-purpose flour

4 eggs

4 cups panko breadcrumbs

6 cups oil, for frying

MUSHROOM RISOTTO

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt one tablespoon of butter and add the mushrooms. Cook until soft, about 5 minutes. Remove the mushrooms and set aside. Add the other tablespoon of butter to the same saucepan over low heat and add the onion. Cook until tender, about 3 minutes. Add rice, stirring constantly for 2 minutes, then pour in wine and stir for an additional 2 minutes. Add 1 cup of chicken broth to the rice and stir until absorbed. Continue this process until all the broth has been added and the rice is tender, approximately 25-30 minutes. Never quit stirring. That’s the most important part. Remove from heat and stir in the mushrooms and 1/2 cup of Parmesan. Add salt and pepper to taste. Spread risotto on a large cookie sheet, cover and refrigerate overnight.

Onion chopping = tears and of course, wine!

I used baby bellas. In the end it would be quicker and perhaps a tad easier to make them with a white button mushroom but I love the hardiness of the bellas, I think any mushroom would be a good choice for this so go with your favorite!

Even my camera was starting to wear down at this point, seven cups of chicken broth and just as many glasses of wine!  *wink*

TO MAKE BALLS:

Combine mushroom risotto, 1/2 cup Parmesan and spinach in a large bowl. Roll into 1 inch balls and coat with flour. Place on a cookie sheet and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Heat oil in a Dutch oven or deep fryer to 350 degrees. In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs. In a separate medium bowl, add the panko breadcrumbs. Remove the balls from the refrigerator and dredge each one in the egg then panko breadcrumbs. Place 4 balls at a time in the oil and fry 1-2 minutes or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

It's not cookie dough, but it tastes pretty yummy!

Little kitchen problems, haha

It's really important to let that oil heat up to 350ºF.
Just go ahead and have another glass of wine while you wait, I promise it will be worth it!

They turned out so lovely.  A side of lemon mayonnaise with some cilantro mixed in or a garlic aioli would be a wonderful accompaniment.

I will say that before you begin to make these go ahead and open up the bottle of wine you plan to use while making the risotto and pour yourself a big old glass from that bottle.  I love risotto but honestly it is a pain in the tush.  It's so yummy but you need to make sure that you didn't just finish arm day at the gym and that you have a good hour to spend between your 15 minutes of prep and 45 minutes of stirring, ha.  I have always thought when it comes to risotto you almost need 4 hands and as many days, haha.  That said I really enjoyed this recipe, I think for me in the future I might add a little more seasoning, maybe some Tony Chachere's if you're a southern girl like me or some Old Bay if your from the Northeast...those of you on the there side of the country, just go find one of those two and you'll be just fine, ha.  I wanted just a touch more flavor but all in all they are really good and they even get the thumbs up from my 12 year old!

Recipe Two (because I can't just do one and I need dessert!

White Chocolate Cranberry Cookies

1 stick butter, softened

1 1/2 cups sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips

1 cup dried cranberries

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, using a hand mixer, cream together butter and sugar until smooth, then add egg and vanilla. Slowly add flour, baking soda and baking powder until blended. Stir in the white chocolate chips and cranberries. Place 1 tablespoon at a time on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 12-14 minutes.

I am always happy to get the chance to use my stand mixer, one thing I would change with this recipe and only because of have a 6qt mixer is that I would double the recipe just so it mixes better in, plus they're super yummy so more is never going to be a bad thing!

This is such an easy recipe and could easily become a go to cookie recipe for you!

I will say the dough is a 'dry', thick dough.
Don't be scared, it does not make a dry cookie!

Bring in reinforcements when necessary, but make sure you keep a close eye on them...somehow, who knows how, I ended up with fewer cookies than expected.  *hmmmmm, haha*

This recipe is an easy quick cookie recipe that you will fall in love with.  The cookies bake beautifully.  One thing to note, they barely spread so don't roll your cookie dough into balls or you'll end up with...cookie balls, lol and make sure you make each cookie a decent size as they won't get any 'bigger' as they bake.  I really enjoyed whipping these up and I am pretty sure I am going to enjoy scrapping the crumbs into my mouth just a few hours after having made them.  If I don't eat them all on my own no doubt my family will have their hands all over them soon!

Excerpt:

Nolan Wood checked his watch as he glanced around the house. Shelby’s house. Or it had started out that way anyway. Now it was his, too. Just as much as she was his.

With a shake of his head, he realized he was smiling. Not that he wasn’t usually—on the whole, he was a pretty laid-back, happy kinda guy. But since he met Shel, it took a rock solid effort to wipe the smile off his face. His Shelby. His paradox. The buttoned-up woman who’d let a loose cannon like him into her life—and in the process had changed him completely.

They’d been together for months now, but he’d known right away that she was special. And that feeling just kept getting stronger, until sometimes when he was around her he thought he might burst if he couldn’t release the pressure.

Then again, that’s one reason why he loved his radio show; that was one hell of a pressure release, after all.

Although it wasn’t quite as good as sex…

The thought seemed to shove him around, and he turned to face the suitcase he’d left by the door. For a second, he frowned. Afraid that maybe he was doing this all wrong.

But it was too late now. He’d already made his decision, his plans, and he was diving in.

He pulled the old-fashioned tape recorder out of his backpack. He’d thought it had a fun vintage flair when he’d found it in the station’s dusty storeroom along with a pack of unused cassettes. He’d snagged the device and the tapes, then recorded the message. Now, he put the cued-up cassette into the recorder, checked that the batteries were good, and added a Post-it note to the top. He left the whole thing on her coffee table. All things considered, much better than a printed note.

Then he drew in a nervous breath, grabbed his suitcase, and gave the inside of the house one last, long look.

This was it, he thought as he headed for the door. For better or for worse, everything was about to change.
