Book Description:

Beckett Murda hates to dwell on the past. But his investigation into the ambush that killed half his Special Forces team and ended his Army career gives him little choice. Just when his team learns how powerful their enemies are, hard-ass Beckett encounters his biggest complication yet—a seductive, feisty Katherine Rixey. A tough, stubborn prosecutor, Kat visits her brothers’ Hard Ink Tattoo shop following a bad break-up—and finds herself staring down the barrel of a stranger’s gun. Beckett is hard-bodied and sexy as hell, but he’s also the most infuriating man ever. Worse, Kat’s brothers are at war with the criminals her office is investigating. When Kat joins the fight, she lands straight in Beckett’s sights . . . and in his arms. Not to mention their enemies’ crosshairs. Now Beckett and Kat must set aside their differences to work together, because the only thing sweeter than justice is finding love and never letting go.

My Review:

Gah, this book.  This Review.  Beckett.  Seriously this review is going to be a bit hard for me because 1. I can't talk to much about what happens because EVERYTHING happens.  This is it fans of Hard Ink, we get it all here and it is well....EVERYTHING.  2. This is the end, I can not believe this story is complete, how do we move on? 3. BECKETT MURDA, really I shouldn't have to even put anything else up for a review there are only two words any Hard Ink fan (or soon to be Hard Ink fan) needs to know

BECKETT MURDA

(Gratuitous Starlord gif, cause it makes me happy)

The way you just swooned when you saw the gif above (what, it isn't just me is it?) that's how Beckett is going to make you feel.  He is such a complex, kind, gentle, alpha, badass, your next book boyfriend character.  Seriously guys I'm totally head over heal for this guy (don't worry Starlord you'll always have my heart....Oh and my husband, he has my heart too...luckily I have a really big and giving heart, haha), Laura Kaye took the best of all the Hard Ink men and put that into Beckett Murda.

We've had an amazing, emotional and powerful ride with the men of Hard Ink and their ladies and while I hate to see this storyline come to an end, Laura Kaye ends everything perfectly with Hard to Let Go and truly guys it really is hard to let go of these guys.  It has been a joy to 'watch' everything unfold and know that each of these tortured couples find the happiness that they deserve.

We were teased with the prospect of a Beckett and Kat romance and we are not disappointed.  These two are an amazing couple. From the moment Beckett held a gun to Kat's head you just knew this romance was going to be epic.  Beckett is a scarred and broken dishonored SF Soldier, Kat is the accomplished, savvy, sarcastic (she's a Rixey, we wouldn't expect anything else) sister of one of Beckett's best friends and SF them members.  In their own way both characters are walking through the world in a bit of a half-life.  Beckett is scarred inside and out.  His childhood left hidden scars that   cause more pain than the visible scars he carries from war.  He is a deeply complex character who will twist up all your emotions, leaving you aching from him and craving peace for his soul.  Kat brings him the peace he never thought he deserved but she also brings her own scars.  Scars left by the death of her parents, scars of living to work, the drive to exceed and push herself to be the best at everything she attempts.  The fear of loosing her brothers and of wanting to prove to them that she is as strong and capable as they are.  Kat even living her 'half-life' is full of love, spirit, and kindness, things she is able to share with Beckett, opening him up to a life he has never known.  From the moment these two meet they are an explosive couple and they perfectly wrap up this series.

I love how the Hard Ink series is more than just romance or suspense.  I love how Laura Kaye is able to emotionally tie readers to each character and how the books aren't just about one couple at a time.  While the focus may be on each individual couple, the books also encompass the relationship within the group as well as the suspense of the overarching storyline.  Seeing Marz and Beckett interact is one of the more emotional and beautiful scenes in the book.  I love that these guys find a way to show themselves to each other.  That they don't just open up to the women that come into their lives but they manage to take their SF bond and tighten it from friendship into family, in most instances for these guys the first family they have ever really known.

This series, but particularly this book, is full of suspense, action, and intrigue.  Laura was able in each book to surprise me with something but never make the storyline so complex that I couldn't keep up with everything going on and there is a lot that goes on.  You will tear through this book because you want to know how it all ends, do they all get the HEA that they deserve and where will they go when things finally come to an end.  You will tear through it because the romance is spot on with sexy swoon worthy moments, because Beckett and Kat will melt your heart. You will tear through this book because you just have to know what t-shirts Jer and Charlie are wearing every day *wink*.  You will tear through it because Laura Kaye's writing style makes it so easy to follow along with each couple and with the complex scenario that lead to the Hard Ink guys dishonorable discharges from the service and their mission to get back their honor while stopping the men out to hurt them and their loved ones as well as get away with terrible crimes.

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
-Edmund Burke

I think that quote nicely sums up the Hard Ink family... they will not stand along the sidelines and allow evil to triumph.  They will fight with every muscle, every thought, every ounce of honor and love that they have.  You will not be disappointed in this book or this series.  I definitely suggest reading the series from book one onward so you are not confused, trust me when I say on you start book one you won't want to stop until you get to the end of Hard to Let Go and even then letting go of these guys is going to be difficult.  I am hopeful from the way things end that we will see more of them all in the future, perhaps just a quick update here or there.  Get it,  Read it, Love it!

~HAPPY READING~
