Book Description:

Alex is a righteous witch hunter. I’m a stab-worthy witch. We loved each other once. Now, we can’t stand to be near each other. It’s my fault. We are natural born enemies, after all. I had to help him save his brother from a psychotic voodoo priest, though. What can I say? I like Little Remington as much as I pretend to dislike Alex. Besides, he promised to never bother me again after that.   He kept his end of the bargain. I left my dubious life behind and started over. All is well. Until—   The truth about a deal with hell is revealed. I have to choose between the ultimate sacrifice or losing jerk-face forever. One will live, one will die. Who, solely depends on my selfishness.

My Review:

So don't ask me how it happened, clearly me just not paying attention and getting so excited about a books synopsis that I disregarded the facts, but I managed to go into this book not realizing it was a second in a series, I have no excuse.  The good thing however is that Nadine does a wonderful job in giving us the background we need in Soul Mates that you won't be lost one bit and you won't feel like you're being overwhelmed with unnecessary 'history' if you're smarter than me and read the first book well, first.  Now does that mean I think you can pick this book up and never worry about reading the Karma (the first book), no.   You know how much I advocate for reading a series in order, its a big thing for me.  Yes you won't be totally lost, woot, but if you want the full story and feel then definetely begin at book one.  To Nadine Nightingale however, thank you for keeping this clueless for a moment reader in the loop.  I love how the background information wasn't lumped in one chapter but spread out through the book so I get it when needed and not overwhelmed by it.

On another note I have to mention how much I love that Amanda is a Styx fan (I am so happy people still know who Styx is) and not so much a Led Zeppelin fan.  Even though she drove me nuts more often than not with her attitude which I would describe as sassy if you know what I mean she and I could still be good friends due to her music preferences.  Haha.

I went into this a bit nervous because I love Paranormal Romance but I typically stick to my tried and true authors because a paranormal done wrong is just DNF worthy and it takes a lot to make me DNF a book, but I am so glad this came across my desk and I gave it a chance.  The drama can get to you every now and again but the storyline is all there, the character development, particularly for Amanda (in this book) is all there, the laugh, the anger, the swoons....it's all in this book.  This is a clever, witty, fun, frustrating, (only because you are wondering why they don't see what everyone else sees) romantic, and moving read.  I want so much for these characters now, even our secondary characters.  Everyone in this book plays a vital part and you will fall in love with each of them.  I want Amanda and her sister to mend their bond, I want Alex and Amanda to admit their love, (I want that one part to have been a fluke) I want something to happen between Bonnie and Jesse to have something, (and I will want their story as well) I want JJ to get a story, because, Amanda is right and who wouldn't fall in love with her, I want to know more about Leandro, (what is going on there, all the feels and questions) and finally Bay...maybe he and JJ, I don't know.  What I do know is I am ready for so much more from this series.  You are totally going to sit down with it and read nonstop because the action keeps coming and reader investment is high in this one.

I will warn you this comes with a cliffhanger and I am typically not a fan of them but I can't regret having read it and being left hanging.  It didn't piss me off but I am anxious to get my hands on the next book and hopefully soon.

If you are a fan of PNR definitely pick up this series and unlike me do start from the beginning, haha. Get ready to be absolutely engrossed in the story and ready for more.  More, more, more....I need it now, is there really a much better review than that.  Get these in your hands!

~ HAPPY READING ~
