Book Description:

From New York Times bestselling author, J. Daniels, comes a sexy new STANDALONE novel.

Riley Tennyson has made a huge mistake. At least, that’s what she keeps telling herself. Showing up to her brother’s wedding pissed off and newly single, Riley seeks comfort in solitude and an open bar, until the gorgeous and irresistibly charming CJ Tully makes her a better offer―a wild night with the master of smooth-talking where nothing is off limits. Riley does what any single woman would do, and a connection is made. One neither one of them can ignore. But when she comes home to the boyfriend she no longer thought she had, Riley buries her secret and begs CJ to do the same. Forget about each other. It was a mistake. That’s all it was… right? Desires are hidden. Distance is kept. Until one night CJ makes the ultimate sacrifice, and Riley can no longer avoid the man she can’t stop thinking about. Not with him sleeping down the hall…

My Review:

Oh My Gosh....I jumped on the 'Tully Train' head first and I don't ever want to get off.

What I need is the 5th book in the Alabama Summer series and it is clear that J. Daniels has fine tuned her writing style and found her zone.  I have loved all the books in this series and I honestly thought I would never get over Ben, but CJ just blew him off my favorite book boyfriends ever list (sorry Ben) and cemented his place in my heart.

There is a lot that goes on in this book and I won't do a play by play but you will fall in love with this couple form the get go.  Riley grows up a lot in this book, she makes a lot of decisions that I don't agree with and that are hard for CJ to take but he handles them because his feelings for him are fast and true.  It's clear through out the series that there is an age and experience gap between this couple, not anything that is creepy, but rather something that marks their life experiences and the choices they make.  I am proud of how much Riley eventual grows and that CJ was there each step of the way to hold her when she wobbled and to catch her when she falls.  You will fall in love with Riley's spirit and courage but CJ is a whole different beast.

He...oh my gosh, he is just everything.  Smart, sexy, strong, silly, seductive...how many 2 words can I come up with?  Does he always make the right decision no, but does he always stand by the woman that he loves, absolutely.  He's the kind of guy that you just want to be around because not only does he take up the room with his size he lights it up with his personality.   He's the kind of character that once he enters your mind you will never get out and you are going to want updates on he and Riley constantly because you want them to be real, you want the whole Alabama Summer crew to be real so that you can weasel your way into their world and gain friends that will do anything for you, give everything to know that you are safe and happy.

I love books with close knit groups of friends, as a homeschooling stay at home mom this is a place I can happily lose myself because it isn't something that is in my sphere right now and books like What I Need take me away from my doldrums and give me a glimpse at beauty.  Beautiful friendships, beautiful, loving relationships (not saying I don't have that one...lol), families being made and lives being intertwined in the best possible ways.  Is there drama, heck yes, but I am happy to announce that this drama isn't angsty drama that makes you want to rip out your heart or maybe just beat yourself in the head with the book, it's the kind of drama that leads to beautiful moments and builds character and love between friends and couples.

CJ Tully is going to change your book boyfriend world and Riley is going to have you shouting for joy as she navigates her new world and discovers how good life can be.  I am not at all ready to see their story come to an end so I am hoping we will get more of them in books to come...Hello Jake (CJ's brother so that means lots of CJ time right?)and  Grayson(CJ's new partner...hey now)...looking forward to getting to know you better.  Also don't be surprised when at the end of the book you're running out for Snowballs and Tequila...not saying I did or didn't...I did.

This book is going to leave you mind and heart happy so just settle in for a fun, sweet, romantic read and hop on the Tully Train with me, I promise it will be a ride you will never forget!

~ HAPPY READING ~
