Book Description:

When Rochelle Ransom auditioned for the dating show Luring Love, she had big plans for winning the prize money to help her favorite charity–and if she won the hot bachelor's heart, even better. But at the last minute she finds out the hot bachelor is her ex-boyfriend, Grant Drake. Desperate to keep her distance from him, she'll do anything–and everything–to get voted off.

Years ago, Rochelle broke Grant’s heart, and he's out for revenge. There's no way he'll vote her off.

After all, vengeance is a dish best served red-hot...and on live television.

When her hilarious antics to get kicked off the show escalate, Grant’s reminded why he fell in love with her the first time. Now he isn't sure which might be more fun... Seeing how far Rochelle is willing to go to get away or how far he will to keep her forever

My Review:

So this was a bit of a departure for me as far as what I have read from Anna Banks before and I think possibly her first foray into Contemporary Romance, although her YA's have always revolved around a romance so that in and of it's self is nothing new to her.

Rochelle Ransom, a hard working, up and coming attorney, a tireless and dedicated volunteer to her local shelter and battered women's care has come to the realization that she can't give 'her' shelter what it needs, more funding.  In a last ditch effort to raise money and with the encouragement of some adventurous friends she finds herself as a contestant on Luring Love.  Rochelle is prepared to be whoever she needs to be and do what ever she needs to do to win the bachelor's love and more importantly the grand-prize money....that is until the bachelor is introduced to Luring Love's contestants and she discovers the grand-prize isn't just a random guy and some money, instead it's HER guy....or her once upon a time guy!

I have to admit that I am not a fan of dating shows and have never actually watched one of them so reading this was a bit interesting for me.  Do people actually act like this on these shows? It did not make me eager to tune in to The Bachelor any time soon.  That being said this is a fun little book.  It only comes in at 198 pages so it is a quick read with a nice amount of what some refer to as 'Clean Romance', a genuine emotional tale and some wonderful characters.  I thoroughly enjoyed Rochelle and Grants back story and their back and forth, but I was quite taken with secondary character, Maya...and I like that the end of the story left open the chance for us to see more of Maya in a future book.

I loved that Grant never wavered from his 'want' of Rochelle once he knew that rekindling their romance could be an option, even with all the temptation of the other competitors and the way he went about thwarting any advances had me smiling and cheering him on in his dedication.  Rochelle, I could have kicked her butt a time or two.  Her jump to conclusions style grated on my nerves a bit...I think that is why Maya was such a star for me...she felt more real than Rochelle did a time or two.  I wouldn't have ever wanted Maya and Grant together, it is clear they aren't meant for one another, but I found her extremely easy to connect to when I struggled with Rochelle's believability.

Even with that, I enjoyed this book, like I mentioned earlier it is a fun quick read.  I you are looking for a light romance that will make you smile and swoon a bit then this is a great book to pick up.  I am looking forward to more in this genre from Anna Banks and hope you will give How To Lose a Bachelor a try.

The sequel is called OF TRITON. The last and final installment is OF NEPTUNE, and it released May 13, 2014. You'll also want to check out my newest release, HOW TO LOSE A BACHELOR coming from Entangled Publishing. It's How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days meets The Bachelor show!

And um. I also write adult fiction under pen name Anna Scarlett. One of the adult lies is DEGREES OF WRONG.
