Book Description:

Wealthy socialite Olivia Barton never imagined her fiancé would disappear on what was supposed to be a routine business trip. She's even more heartbroken and confused when a hired private investigator tracks him half a world away, to a seaside town in Colombia. But the country has recently been ravaged by a massive earthquake and deadly tsunami, shutting down outside communication and making travel all but impossible. Still, Olivia is determined to make it to Colombia to find the answers she so desperately seeks. What she needs is a guide—a mercenary.

The man named Thomas arrives in shadows, an unmistakable air of danger about him, promising to help lead her through the ruined, crime-infested country. But when Thomas and Olivia find themselves fighting an undeniable attraction, danger takes on a whole new meaning. Then again, in the lush jungles of South America, all the rules are different and Thomas and Olivia are about to discover that sometimes the thing you seek, isn't necessarily the thing you find.

Seek is a STANDALONE novel with a small, fun connection to the Sign of Love Collection

My Review:

This was another big hit for me from Mia Sheridan.  I hate to go so far as to say she can not go wrong, cause I'll be honest...Becoming Calder and Finding Eden were not my favorites, haha...she is darn near always spot on for an amazing read for me.

As always she tugs at your heart and makes you feel things you didn't know where possible, what isn't the norm when it comes to Seek is the action and the raw grittiness of this story.  While I found myself in the beginning questioning if this was going to be a book I loved or not I will say that Mia Sheridan pulled through.  She straight up she broke my heart in the first few paragraphs and then boom, things jump ahead many years, (that's where things got a little iffy for me) and we're in the middle of a suspense novel that I never saw coming, FYI, I am terrible about reading book descriptions I almost never know what I am getting into until I am there, ha.

Thomas is both the hero you expect Mia to write and at the sometime something so different for her.  He is broken, like all her heroes, and yet redeemable on so many levels. He falls in that land of grays ( like his eyes, swoon) instead of a clear black and white. He's emotionally unavailable and though he feels an insane attraction to the woman he has agreed to guide through the jungles of Columbia she is a job, simple as that.  Except, things don't always go to plan do they...in one instant everything can change.  Thomas is the darkness that is the antithesis to Olivia's light.  He is rough edges to her smooth surface.  He is everything she is not, except lonely.

Olivia is a wonderful heroine.  She is compassionate and caring.  She is determined and courageous.  I loved her strength both in her beliefs and in her being.  She is not one to brush off (as Thomas does) as a weak debutante.  This is a woman who can and will hold her own, even against a secretive, grumpy, ex Seal turned mercenary.  Because of her belief in people and her compassion she has sadly been taken advantage of through her life, however she has not let it change her belief that people are inherently good.

Together I loved their chemistry both emotionally and physically.  I loved the push and pull between them and when they finally give in to the desires and emotions they have been feeling it is everything you want to have happened.

This is a story about learning exactly how strong a person is, learning who your true self is, and learning that choosing the harder right over the easier wrong is always the way.  I really enjoyed the suspense and intrigue in this story.  The surprises kept coming and the action was gripping.  This was a quick read, one sitting not only because it just isn't a terribly long book (not a novella however) but it hooked you and kept you turning pages wanting to see what happens.  I you are a fan of contemporary romance, thrillers, or suspense novels this will be a great choice for you.  I hope that you will give this book a try!

~ HAPPY READING ~
