Book Description:

Loving her is the biggest fight of his life…

Home from the Marines, Noah Cortez has a secret he doesn’t want his oldest friend, Kristina Moore, to know. It kills him to push her away, especially when he’s noticing just how sexy and confident she’s become in his absence. But, angry and full of fight, he’s not the same man anymore either. Which is why Warrior Fight Club sounds so good.

Kristina loves teaching, but she wants more out of life. She wants Noah—the boy she’s crushed on and waited for. Except Noah is all man now—in ways both oh so good and troubling, too. Still, she wants who he’s become—every war-hardened inch. And when they finally stop fighting their attraction, it’s everything Kristina never dared hope for.

But Noah is secretly spiraling, and when he lashes out, it threatens what he and Kristina have found. The brotherhood of the fight club helps him confront his demons, but only Noah can convince the woman he loves that he’s finally ready to fight for everything.

My Review

Oh how I adored this story. A friends to lovers tale woven together by the heart wrenching tale of a broken beautiful 'boy' and the strong determined 'girl' who will stand by his side even if that means walking away.  Fighting for Everything i a wonderful introduction to the Warrior Fight Club series, it sets the tone perfectly as well as giving us an exciting glimpse of what is to come.

Laura Kaye out did herself with Noah.  You can feel his fear, determination, sadness, anger, love coming through the pages as easily as if he were standing right next to you telling you his beautifully painful story.  Everything about this story feels real and humbling.  This IS Noah's story.  This is the story of a Marine fighting back to regain his life, to find his place in a world he isn't sure he fits in any more.  This is the story of a deeply moving personal battle that has to tear people down before it can put them back together and ultimately give them their own version of a happily ever after.

I loved the give and take between Noah and Kristina.  The unsure desire, the want, the pain of letting go (yes I even loved that part) and the moment that everything comes back together.  There was nothing fantastical and unreal about their relationship. This is a relationship that you can see playing out in your own life or the lives of your friends.  It is one based on long held trust even when the trust gets smashed to pieces.  I love that neither ever truly gives up on the other even when they know they can't be there person the other needs or they know that the other person needs to heal themselves.  That the love is strong enough to recognize that sometimes even if letting go is the hardest thing, it is the right thing.  While there are some wonderfully steamy romantic moments in this book that is not what this book was about and I adored that Laura was able to give us those but never take away from what is the truth of this book, and that is Noah's story of pain and healing.

I never doubted that Laura Kaye could make this book the beautiful story that it is.  She has an amazing talent at understanding and giving us the pain that many of our Service Members go through as they return home from deployment after deployment after deployment.  The pain of losing friends, team mates, family members, parts of themselves.  The pain of coming back into a world that is not the same one they left, the fact that they are not the same person they once were.  The pain of having seen death and destruction with out the ability to mentally handle everything thrown at these men and women, many who are young and have never dealt with loss and suffering.  Laura breaks it all down to a base level allowing the reader to peer into the minds and hearts of these men and women and to feel a small inkling of their heartache and turmoil.  I also adore how in EVERY book Laura writes she leaves the reader with knowledge about not only the issues that the book is bringing forth but also with real and honest ways that the characters cope and overcome.  The use of art therapy in this story touches my heart on a very personal level.  My daughter who is autistic uses art therapy to help her focus and find her personal narrative without having to follow the rules of society or it's expectations which is a struggle for her every day of her life.  No, it is not the same thing and yet it is.  It is proof that these therapies, ones you might think seem silly (as Noah did in the beginning) or that you aren't even sure exist do and that they are changing lives and that we need to support and encourage their use!  Whether Mrs. Kaye is writing to remind us of the struggles of our Service Members as is the case with this book or the fight against animal cruelty she always has a message and that makes her one of my favorite authors.  She gives the reader not only a beautiful heart felt story but a thought to take away and a purpose to support.

I am really looking forward to more of the Men and Women of Warrior Fight Club, of getting to know them, their struggles, and their HEA's.  I am hopeful we will see more of the inside of the WFC as we just got a basic introduction this time around and I want it to have more of a prominent role in each story.  A Laura Kaye book has yet to fail me and as you can tell she met my expectations once again.  I hope that you will grab up this new series and come along on this emotionally gripping journey!

~ HAPPY READING ~

FIGHTING FOR EVERYTHING
LAURA KAYE

Standing there in the arms of her best friend, Kristina knew she had to stop this...whatever this was.

Tilting her head back, the words were on the tip of her tongue. Her eyes locked with Noah’s, and even in the dimness she could see that they were blazing hot and almost predatory in their directness. It stole her capacity to speak, because she was unequivocally sure he'd never looked at her like that. Need roared off of him and through her, spiking her arousal so hard and fast that she became wet between her legs.

From just a look.

Heart pounding like a bass drum, Kristina swallowed hard. What would she do if he kissed her? One kissing experiment aside, she'd never had to ask that in regard to him. Another question followed close behind: what would she do if he didn't?

He didn't give her the space to debate. His hand fisted in the back of her hair. The roughness licked flames through her and sent her heart into a sprint. And then he was guiding her head, bringing them together, bringing his face closer and closer to hers. His gaze dropped to her lips, and a shaky breath caressed her skin.

Noah kissed her.

The first press of his lips against hers was soft and sweet, and she thought she might shatter from the shock of sensation just that light touch delivered. The one that made her want to forget who he was and what he was to her and climb him like a tree.

This is Noah. This is Noah. This is Noah.

Kristina had never wanted anything like this with him. Never before. But now that she'd had a taste, it was like she'd never eaten a meal in her life. His lips skated over hers, and she moaned at the unexpected goodness of it.

And it was like the sound burst some dam inside him. On an answering groan, he planted both hands in her hair and kissed her harder than she'd ever been kissed in her life. His mouth claimed, his tongue penetrated, his body grinded against hers. He pushed her against the opposite side of the door frame, pinning her there with all his muscled strength.

It was stunning. It was glorious. It was so wrong.

This is Noah. This is--

So freaking good.

The kiss felt like he was feasting on her, like he'd been starving for her and finally let himself have a taste. His desire was thrilling. His rough intensity was breath-stealing. His need fueled hers. Against his chest, her nipples ached to be tugged and sucked. She clenched her thighs together, dying for relief from the inferno he'd ignited inside her. She sucked hard on his tongue and ran her hands up the corded muscles of his biceps to grasp his thick shoulders, trying to anchor herself against the storm his desire had unleashed in both of them.

Her brain tried to remind her why she'd come down here, that she'd wanted to confront Noah-her best friend, Noah, but then his hands skimmed down her body-over her breasts, her belly, to her hips-and his clutching, urgent touch chased the thoughts away.

Later. There'd be time for talk, for thought, for consequences...later.
