Book Description:

I’m the guy you call when you need to impress your overbearing family, your boss, or your ex. Yeah, I’m a male escort, but not just any escort, I’m the escort. The one with a mile-long waiting list and a pristine reputation that’s very well-deserved. I’m the guy who’ll make you feel beautiful, desired, and worshipped . . . all for a steep price. I’m hired to make you shine, and I always deliver. I’ll be whatever you want me to be for one night—except my true self. This is just a job, a role I play to earn a paycheck. But I’m not the guy who falls for a client. Not once in six years. And then I meet Elle. Her friend has hired me to escort her to a wedding, but Elle doesn’t know we’re just pretending. There’s a fire between us I never expected. A connection I haven’t felt in so long. One kiss, and I’m losing all control. But what will happen when she finds out who I really am?

My Review:

Boyfriend for Hire is one of those great 'I just need to escape from the world' reads.  It's the perfect book for a sunny afternoon or heck even a rainy one, where you can curl up and smile at the words put on the page.  It's an easy sweet read with just the right amount of steam.

I loved both the hero and the heroine, though I was partial to the heroine in this story.  I feel like if I was still in my dating years I would have been a lot like her, so I could really see myself in the story which is always a nice tough when reading a contemporary romance.  I did love the hero, I just had small issue with him which we will discuss in a minute, but in general he's just one of those great guy type heroes.  He's working his hardest to live his life, it may be in an unconventional way but it works for him...well it did, until a fiery but cautious women is put in his path.  The one thing I really enjoyed about him is that Kendall does a great job of really putting his feelings and his struggle with them on the pages.  Nic doesn't just tumble in to a relationship lightly or easily with Elle, he really struggles to come to terms with the situation he is in and the feelings he is developing.

So why only four stars from me and why didn't I madly love Nic.  Well, first we'll tall Nic.  At the beginning of the story I got the impression that he was going to have been an 'escort' but not an 'Escort' if you know what I mean, lol.  I thought he was going to be the illusive he dates you but he doesn't end up in bed with you and I was disappointed to discover that wasn't the case.  Plenty of times we read romances where the girl is the escort and she stipulates that the one thing she won't do is sleep with her clients, or that is the 'rule' for the company she works for and I guess I just had high hopes and was slightly lead to believe that this would be the case for Nic. I would love to see the hero who refuses to go that far!  The other thing I didn't like is that I felt like there never was closure for Elle in her relationship with the ex.  The fact is that ex isn't going away, since he is best friends with her brother, and he's also a huge jerk, there's a lot talk about him in the beginning and then he just kinda falls of the pages and well, you 'guys' who have followed my reviews know...where was the vindication!  I am all about the jerks in books getting their comeuppance and I really missed it in this one.

All in all this is a great read.  It's funny, it's full of heart, and it's got the steaminess you want from a romance.  It's a quick easy read and you won't regret having picked it up!

~ HAPPY READING ~
