Book Description:

The move to the remote town of Quarry Hill, Pennsylvania was supposed to help Griffin McGuire start over and forget the two people who betrayed him. As a paramedic at the local hospital, he would still have to interact with people, but the rest of the time he could hole himself away in the secluded cabin he was renting. It was perfect. For the first time in over a year, he felt like he could finally breathe. That was until he met her. A woman who doesn’t know her own name or why she was covered in blood and standing in the middle of the road when he found her. Griffin knows he should contact the police, but something is preventing him from going to the authorities. It doesn’t take long for him to realize that he was correct in trusting his instincts. Every time she falls asleep, she dreams and another memory is unlocked. Memories that are horrific and make him want to protect and hide her from the world.

Exclusive Excerpt:

I close my eyes, take a deep breath and allow the breeze to whip through my hair when I feel someone watching me. I look over and catch Griffin eyeing me. His heated gaze goes straight to my core. I have no idea why he affects me so much. Yes, he is gorgeous and built like a brick shit house, but he also can be moody as hell. Something must have happened to him. The man is kind and gentle one minute and grumpy and on the verge of having a tantrum the next. I can make him chuckle, but I can also make him curse and storm out of rooms. I want to figure him out, but I get the feeling that is the last thing he wants…along with a housemate. Which means I have to get my memory back, all of it. This bits and pieces bullshit is going to drive me insane. At this rate it will take me years to regain my memory. I take another bite of my sandwich, put it down on the napkin next to me, and reel my line in a little. “So where did you grow up?” I ask, trying desperately to have a normal conversation. “South Philadelphia, just a few blocks from the Phillies ballpark,” he says, peeling back the foil from his sandwich. Philadelphia. My vision blurs and the peaceful lake in front of me mutates into something else entirely… “Drink this, Tye. You’re freezing,” the young girl said as she handed him the Styrofoam cup. Despite the visible steam coming from the cup, he drank it down in two gulps. Through her veil of ratty hair, the girl smiled and sat next to him on the stoop. Tye wiped his mouth off with the back of his gloved hand and said, “Steer clear of Market Street, girl. It’s swarming with cops. They’re rounding everyone up and forcing us into shelters tonight because of the snow that’s coming.” “I’m going to the church. They don’t ask many questions there,” she said. “Why don’t you come with me?” “Nah, I’ll be fine. I like the cold. It keeps me alert.” “That’s bullshit,” she said. “Young ladies shouldn’t curse,” Tye scolded. The girl snorted and laughed at the old timer. She then looked down, her eyes taking in the miserable sight. Her smile faded and her eyes hardened. “They shouldn’t be covered in flea bites or wear clothes that are full of fucking holes, either,” she spat. “Hey, what is it? Talk to me.” I blink away the vision and stare into Griffin’s concerned eyes. “I saw a young girl, maybe twelve or thirteen. I didn’t get a good look at her face because her hair was covering most of it. I think she was living on the streets.” And she was pissed. I heard the bite in the young girl’s voice and saw the disgust in her eyes, not when she looked at that man she called Tye, but when she gave herself a once-over. At her tattered clothing, her matted hair, her flea-bitten skin. “Why is my brain spitting out random images of some poor girl?” “You’re going to remember. Each memory, each vision is a puzzle piece. They may seem random and useless right now, but you will find the connection.” “How do you know I’m going to remember who I am?” I ask, staring into his green eyes. “Because you’re too stubborn, too strong-willed not to.”

Luck of the Devil by Meghan March - Review

Author: Meghan March
Publication Date:  12 February 2019
Publisher: Meghan March, LLC
Series:  Forge Trilogy, book 2
Genre:  Contemporary Romance
Age Recommendation: 18 and Up
Rating: 4 Stars
~ I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ~

Book Description:

New York Times bestselling author Meghan March continues the story of ruthless, calculating billionaire Jericho Forge in Luck of the Devil.

My poker face has always been one of my greatest assets, along with my grit and determination. I was beholden to no one. Asked permission for nothing.

Then Jericho Forge took my life by storm.

I traded my freedom for something infinitely more precious, but I didn’t realize he was holding an unbeatable hand.

Now, all I have to do is survive the high-stakes game that is my life—with my heart intact.

But not falling in love with Forge? That will take the luck of the devil.

Luck of the Devil is the second book of the Forge Trilogy, and should be read following Deal with the Devil. The Forge Trilogy concludes in Heart of the Devil.

My Review:

There is just something about a Meghan March read that I have come to love and hate, lol.  I always get completely lost in her stories, her characters are so vibrant and consuming, her world building while unrealistic for the average joe/jane, comes across as completely believable and makes you feel as though you are part of the action.  What is my hate part of the relationship?  The cliff-hanger.  The one thing that I know without a doubt will be there, unless it is the final book, her trade-mark endings.  I love everything except the one thing I always know to expect!

As is the case with a lot of Meghan's series in progress books I can't talk about too much because there are so many little things that happen that change and advance the story that would be considered spoilers.  What I can say is that if you haven't already fallen in love with this couple you will soon.  We're getting into the part of the story where the true character of Jehrico and India is being revealed. Jericho isn't just some jerk billionaire, he has a past and fears that haunt him. India isn't just a fearful girl rushing from one thing to another just trying to survive.  In fact we really start to see just how strong of a heroine she is.  We've always known she will do what it takes but now we see that she can truly give as good as she gets.

This is a treat series to get lost in.  Buy the books as they come out but if you don't like cliff hangers, hold on to them until you get all of them.  You totally won't regret these books, they are so full of action, twists and turns, and S.T.E.A.M.Y romance you can't help but love them, but yah...those cliff-hangers, hahaha!

THIS HAPPENED TO JESSICA Excerpt

Celia was looking around the table with a bewildered expression on her face. "I don't understand. Why does it matter if Jessica is related to Brittany?"

"Because Brittany looks like Jessica," Mia said.

Everyone fell silent. A woman next to us burst into hysterical, high-pitched laughter. Another table over, a group of college-aged guys started chanting as one of their friends, wearing a Wisconsin Badger cap, guzzled a pitcher of beer. Glasses clanked as they were plunked onto tables.

"Not this again," Celia breathed out, picking up her Cosmo and draining it.

"What do you mean, ‘not this again?’" Mia asked, her voice quiet, but with a dangerous edge.

Barry put a hand on Celia's arm. "Nothing. She means nothing." He glared at his wife. Celia kept her mouth shut, but her sour expression spoke volumes.

"Barry, let her talk," Mia said. "What do you mean, 'not this again?'"

"You know what I mean," Celia said. "It's been fifteen years. It's time to let it go."

"Let it go?" Mia said, her voice sounding even more quiet and dangerous. "Let it go? Our friend disappeared! And we don't know what happened to her!"

"First off, I'm sure Jessica left on her own. Her stuff was gone ..."

"But, it wasn't the right ..." Mia tried to interrupt, but Celia kept going. "And even if something did happen, she's gone. Gone!" Celia leaned forward. "I know this is difficult for you to hear, but you're not going to heal unless you, all of you …" here she looked around the table, "… accept it. She's gone. She's been gone for fifteen years. She's not coming back. And no amount of rehashing or talking about it is going to change that."

"She was our friend," Mia said. "Don't you get that? How heartless can you be?"

"I know she was your friend and I know this is painful to hear. No, Barry, stop it. Let me talk. This isn't healthy. It's not healthy to live in the past and that's precisely what everyone here is doing. Someone has to speak the truth and I guess that has to be me. I didn't know Jessica, but I very much doubt she would want all of you still obsessing over what happened to her fifteen years later. Besides, this has all gotten worse since she," she nodded toward me, "came back. We don't need to keep living in the past. Jessica is gone."

"I agree," Rich said, his deep voice cutting across the table. His voice was quiet, but there was something about it that caused everyone to pay attention. Maybe it was because he so seldom talked that when he finally did, it was really noticed. "If we're not going to be honest about what happened that night, then it makes no sense to keep talking about it."

"What aren't we being honest about?" Mia asked.

Rich stared at me, his dark eyes glittering. "If we're honest, we know exactly who to blame for that night."

Did he mean me? I stared at Rich, dumbfounded. "What do you mean?"

His gaze didn't flinch. "You know exactly what I mean."

You were the last person to see Jessica alive. Daniel had told me that. And Daphne. But, he couldn't possibly mean I had anything to do with Jessica's disappearance. Could he?

My Review:

Oh Carrie Ann Ryan, how I love you and your Montgomery's!  Restless Ink is book 2 in the spin off series, Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs.  I was so happy when she started this spin-off up because I really did not want to leave the family I had grown to love, the Montgomerys.

I throughly enjoyed this couple together and separately.  Dimitri and Thea are both just two incredibly kind and sweet people who deserve all the love and happiness they ultimately get.  Of course Carrie Ann can't make it a smooth ride, oh no!  This couple goes through some pretty traumatic moments, like most of the Montgomery's have, but this one felt even more twisted and psychological thriller-is than usual to be honest and I LOVED it. I adored their kindness, their consideration, the steaminess...HELLOOOOOO TWISTER!  I also really LOVE that the puppy was never in peril, I don't know what I would have done if he had been.  I think it could have turned into the most difficult Montgomery book ever, but Carrie Ann spared me and I am ever so grateful.  Yes, the puppy was a major factor for me, it is what it is, haha.

As with all the Montgomery books these characters are a part of a tight knit family and I adored getting to see them have their game nights and girls/guys night, just like what we have been accustomed to.  Carrie Ann is bringing me back into the family fold and just giving me more to love and I am thrilled with that.  I am very anxious to get my hands on book three, because I am so worried about those two characters.  There's something really sad happening between Roxie and Carter and my heart is in my throat with all the possibilities.

This is just another great addition to the whole Montgomery Ink world and if you are a fan of the Montgomery's or just love a good Romance grab u this book, you will not be disappointed!  <3

My Review:

My whole feelings about this book can be wrapped up by saying "Damn you Meghan March, I need book 3 now!"

Meghan is becoming the queen of the cliffhanger and just when I thought she couldn't leave me any more flabbergasted than she did after book one she takes it to the next level and Y'all!

Guilty As Sin picks up right where (thank goodness) book one, Richer than Sin, left off.  The Riscoff family is in turmoil over a shocking announcement and Whitney is left reeling in the aftermath.  What did I love about Guilty As Sin?  I loved the fact that Whitney comes into her own in this book.  She discovers that her life is just that HERS and she is not beholden to anyone.  I loved watching her discover who she is on her own and finding her passion again.  Lincoln is a man who learns the hard way, meaning he needs a few lessons to get things through his 'thick skull'.  Do I love him for that yes, but at the same time, I totally feel Whitney in the "we've been here before" feelings.

I loved the background info we got, we go really deep especially with Whitney this book and I feel like I really understand who she and Lincoln are both together and alone.  This one is pretty angsty which isn't my favorite thing in a book, angst just makes my heart hurt, lol, but I understand the need for it here.  We need to truly feel what these two characters feel so that we can accept their development and like I mentioned above there is a lot of it this book.

The one thing I don't get... I don't get the angry cousin.  It completely throws me off.  I understand both the Riscoff's and Gamble family frustrations, their long lasting 'feud' but the cousin, why.  I'd like to understand the reasoning behind that, I'd also like to see someone stand up to her.  They coddle her and I don't know why.  When she goes against Whitney's wishes and says she will do something that could ultimately harm Whitney I don't know why her family doesn't shut her down.  This "I''ll talk to her" behavior needs to turn into a "I'm gonna kick her butt" behavior.  She's a brat and I am sure there is a reason but for the life of me I can't figure it out and it's starting to piss me off because there don't even seem to be clues.  When something like that sticks out more than some of the other aspects, to me that is a bit of a challenge.  It's still a total 4 star read for me because I love Whitney and Lincoln and some of their family members but the cousin, yeah...she knocks things down a star in my opinion.  Give us something, anything to give a clue as to the behavior.  I'm sure someone will come and tell me I just missed it, but that's how I feel right now after finishing and not understanding.

Back to what I love, Whitney and Lincoln are a fire burning hot and fierce.  I love these two together and know that when they can see past their own histories and past their fears and beliefs, when they finally learn to trust they are going to be one of my all time favorite couples!

This series is a fantastic read, it is total cliffhanger city so if you can holding off till you have all three in hand and can read the full story straight through is the way to go.  This waiting is SO hard. Things are going to get turned a direction we didn't see coming when we started book 2, but honestly if you are a Meghan March fan you wouldn't expect anything else.  There's always a "Ah-Ha, now see there I got you!" moment and I know she's just sitting back and laughing at all of us as we lose our minds!

Opportunity by Kennedy Layne - Release Day

The final book in Kennedy Layne's sexy, suspenseful Office Roulette trilogy, OPPORTUNITY, is available now!

Find out more about it below and pick up your copy today!

Book Description:

USA Today Bestselling Author Kennedy Layne brings you the thrilling conclusion to the Office Roulette trilogy…
Gareth Nicollet had been born into wealth, but he’d learned at an early age that money wasn’t everything it was cracked up to be.  Regrettably, he’d made a meaningful choice early on in his life that now threatened his future with the woman he loved.
Cynthia Ellsworth valued many things, but trust and loyalty were at the top of her list.  She’d always known the man who shared her bed had secrets, but she never thought in a million years that he had the ability to destroy her career and her heart with a single blow.
Someone once said that greed was balanced by fear, but that wasn’t entirely true when there was nothing left to lose.  Unfortunately, Gareth’s secret is the very reason the roulette wheel is spinning and Cynthia’s life hangs in the balance.

Get a sneak peek at OPPORTUNITY

It seemed to her that she could sense the moment Gareth was going to speak. She’d never been attuned to a man the way she was with him, and that included many more than Kurt Langston. In hindsight, all Kurt had done was distract her with adventure that she hadn’t seen fit to provide for herself. Cynthia supposed she should be thankful to him for one lesson, because he’d taught her that she hadn’t needed a man to make her happy. She was proud of who she’d become, though she could admit to holding men to higher standards more often than they could meet. It was unfortunate that Gareth had come immediately after her valuable lesson, when the sting was still fresh. She’d always tended to act first and suffer the consequences later. It was in her genetic makeup to be out in front of any issue. She made decisions, in and out of her personal life, and stuck to them. Maybe it was time she give a little bit. “We could always table this discussion until later,” Cynthia managed to draw out around a moan he initiated by working on a knot in her right calf that had been bothering her all day. She lifted the lashes on her right eye to witness his reaction. He hadn’t even flinched at her confession. She could at least give him the benefit of the doubt about why he’d kept the fact that Brad was his brother a secret. She owed him that much, didn’t she? To prove that she wasn’t just delaying the inevitable— which she’d asked for— she raised a knee so that her foot rested against the growing bulge in his pants. “Are you trying to distract me with sex, Cyn?” “Is it working yet?”

Missed the first two books and want to catch up? Get your hands on them now!

From USA Today Bestselling Author Kennedy Layne comes a sexy trilogy that involves greed, power, and the desire to do it all over again…
Smith Gallo has everything a man could ever want at the tip of his fingertips, except of course the woman he loves.  To what lengths will he be willing to go to make his ambitions come true?
Laurel Calanthe is one successful stock pick away from making partner when she finds herself in desperate need of an alibi.  There’s only one problem.  The man who can save her from being arrested is her only competitor and the one who now holds her fate in his hands.
Greed is a powerful motivator in the game of making money, but desire can overcome even the strongest motive.

The Office Roulette trilogy continues with an epic battle between blame and forgiveness…
Rye Marshall had it all—wealth, prominence, and the love of his life.  But nothing lasts forever, and his perfect world came crashing down around him.  When the dust settled, he found himself alone and starting from a clean slate.
Grace Dorrance had made many mistakes in her life, but one stood out above the rest—an epic ending to a complex and passionate relationship.  She left her former lover’s life in complete ruins and tried her best never to look back at the wreckage.
Seconds chances are hard to come by, but even more difficult when Grace is arrested for a murder she didn’t commit.  This gives Rye the perfect motive to forgive and forget, allowing for new beginnings.  Unfortunately, someone’s playing a game of office roulette with everyone’s lives.

Book Description:

Our night of passion was unforgettable.
I'd have loved more time with her, but she was a city girl passing through my lonely mountain village, only here to take photos of our festival.
She had no reason to return. So when she shows up again months later, I'm stunned.
Turns out her job sent her back with some unfinished business. I'd love another taste, but she says she's done with me and plans to leave ASAP. I'm not about to argue...
Until I find out that she's pregnant from our one-night-stand.
And once I know that she's carrying my child inside of her?
I'm never going to let her go.

My Review:

So I am going to admit that I am a little bit torn on this one.  I really liked the whole concept of the story, the suspense and the romance...but somewhere something didn't totally connect with me.  Maybe it was the use of the words Secret Baby in the description, maybe I don't read enough secret baby books to know what constitutes a secret baby, but to me that wasn't a wholly accurate descriptor for this book.  Maybe it was the 'dirty talk' that just didn't hit the mark for me.  For some reason to me especially coming from the heroine Jenna if felt, not forced but not as though it came out of her mouth comfortably even though it was supposed to be.  I think it was in the end just little things that made it harder for me to connect with the story as a whole, that maybe there were too many of those little things going on, a mystery, a secret, not so secret, baby, a dirty talking alpha mountain man who's not totally alpha at all, a professional, single-minded, dirty-ish talking heroine.  I don't know, I am honestly left scratching my head a little.

On the other side though, I have to say that I actually did enjoy the story.  I enjoyed all the separate pieces and wish that there could have been maybe a little more focus on one or the other.  I really enjoyed the suspense side, the who-done-it, though I think part of that is fairly clear from the beginning, but I have to say I was a little shocked by another part of it.  I liked the overall romance of the Hero and Heroine.  I like that they met for one brief passionate night, no qualms, no 'I'm not really that kind of girl', just two adults living their lives the way they want to live them. I liked that it was insta-attaraction but not total insta-love. I loved the Hero's willingness to bend and to be present regardless of the circumstances. that Gil, loves who he is, where he lives, what he does, but it also willing to look outside of his 'box' and see that he can be better with the right woman by his side and that might mean stepping away from that comfort zone and creating a new life, a better life, in a different place and atmosphere.  Jenna is definitely a woman who will be after any female readers heart, she is the kind of woman you would want to be or at least be great friends with.  She's independent, spunky, determined, strong... the list could go on and on.  I loved how she fights for herself and isn't willing to backdown from her own dreams and desires.  The two are a really great couple and (despite my uncomfortableness with the dirty talk from the Heroine) have a really wonderful romance happening between these pages, the steam is all there!

Big Mountain is my first read from Penny Wylder and I will definitely be checking out the rest of her books, because while I am a bit torn on this one there were enough great things that I look forward to seeing what else is out there from her.  My understanding is that this is a longer book for her.  It is not truly novella length but it isn't a full novel length either so it's a fairly quick read when you're looking for a distraction form everyday life!

~ HAPPY READING ~

EXCERPT:

He’s finished heating up the place now, and he crosses to me until his huge frame blocks the doorway I’m standing in. This close, I can feel the heat, but not from the stoves. It comes off his body, radiating from him like the summer sun. I step closer, until we’re chest-to-chest, and I’m gazing up into those bright eyes of his, mesmerized, entranced.
“I can see what you mean,” I admit, my voice softer now than it was back at the bonfire when we fired flirty, suggestive comments back and forth at one another. “I like it here too.”
“Do you now?” His hands are on me again, but touching me lightly this time, teasing. He trails a fingertip up my arm, then back down, leaving a trail of tingles in his wake, the fire stoking inside me to an almost unbearable degree. I feel like another one of his wood stoves. He knows just how to coax the flames in me. “I haven’t even shown you proper Bailey hospitality yet.” From the smirk on his mouth, I can guess what he means.
Still, I ask anyway. “What exactly does that entail?”
“Well.” He bends closer, eyes trapping mine, until his mouth hovers just inches away from my lips. “First, it would involve escorting you to my bedroom. Then…” His gaze breaks away, drips down my neck to my shirt. “I’d have to take off all those clothes of yours.”
A shiver traces its way along my spine. “I see. And then?”
“Then, I’d want you spread-eagled across my bed.” He dips toward me, and I shut my eyes, lips parted in anticipation of a kiss. But he slides right past my mouth, presses his cheek to mine once more, his breath hot on my ear. “After which I’ll be tasting every…” He catches my lobe between his lips, swirls his tongue around my earring, then kisses that soft, tender spot right beneath my ear, where it meets my neck. A spot that always makes me swoon. My knees feel weak under me. “… Inch of you,” he murmurs. His lips kiss down my neck to my collarbone, to the edge just visible under my shirt.
I rock toward him, unable to help myself, my hands drifting up to grip his shoulders for balance. “Mm,” I manage to say, distracted by his lips, his tongue edging along my neck. “And after you’re… satisfied with tasting?” I catch my breath, because he stops kissing my neck then, and draws back and with one finger under my chin, lifts my face toward his.
“I doubt I’d ever be satisfied with you,” he murmurs, a grin on his mouth. “But once I’ve made you come enough times that you can hardly catch your breath?” His eyes light up, because I have to catch my breath again, this time in a breathy little gasp. “Well, then I’ll fuck you, Jenna.” His hands slide down from my waist, caressing my hips on their way to my ass, which he grabs with both hands, hard enough to lift me half an inch off the floor, and pressing my hips against his, where his stiff cock still digs into my belly, harder than a steel rod.
“All. Night. Long.”
