Book Description:

From New York Times bestselling author Kendall Ryan comes a standalone romance about a swoony single dad and the new neighbor he falls for.

Last night was the most embarrassing night of my life. I was THAT girl. You know, the highly intoxicated chick celebrating her thirtieth with her two best friends—the ones who are happily married. And the more I drank, the more I wanted to do something reckless to celebrate. By reckless, I meant the sexy and alluring man dressed in a business suit standing near the bar. You know his type—tall, dark, and handsome. I was sure he was out of my league, but I'd had just enough alcohol that things like that no longer seemed to matter. I'm not fat, mind you, but you can tell I like French fries, so there's that. He took me home and I enjoyed the hottest birthday sex of my life, well until it came to a screeching, and rather unwelcome halt. There's nothing quite like being interrupted mid-ride with a little voice asking: "What are you doing to my daddy?" Just kill me now…... or so I thought. Come to find out the man I rode like a bull at the rodeo is my new landlord.

My Review:

Mister Tonight is a lovely quick read that just plain made me happy.  There is a sweetness to the entire book that you can't help but swoon and smile over.  I will tell you that I was actually a little hesitant to go into it because I am always a little anxious about books where there is a single parent, especially a single father.  Usually the angst is too high for me or the book will have a single parent but that parent manages to basically live a life that doesn't seem to revolve around a child like it would in 'real-life'.  Mister Tonight was done so well on these fronts however.  Maddie is front and center from the beginning of this book and is always in the minds of our two main character as they navigate their relationship.  I will say that one thing that threw me off was Maddie's age, she was four but I had to keep reminding myself of that because she quite often seemed to act out of character for a four year old.  She was also quite spoiled, but I suppose those things might be the case for a single parent raising an only child.

I loved the slow burn of the relationship between Kate and Hunter. That they ended up really taking their time getting to know one another and that Kate took the time to look inward and figure out what she truly wanted out of life and all with out tons of angst, I really hate angst!

One of my favorite things about this couple is that they're just normal everyday people.  Hunter is a man who works a regular job, loves and takes care of his daughter, (as he should regardless of his circumstances) and is trying to navigate the world around him in his and his daughter's best interest.  Kate is a vivacious, free spirit, who is a hard worker, thoughtful, considerate, and giving.  She never falters to be a friend to a little 4 year old girl and eventually a wonderful mother.  They're just two regular people falling in love and making a family the best way they can and I appreciate that to no end.

Mister Tonight is full of funny moments, sweet memories being made, swoon worthy 'adult snuggling', and lots of love.  If you are looking for a cute sweet read with just the right amount of swoon and romance do not miss out on this book.  It's a fast read, you will likely finish it in one sitting and just the perfect thing for an afternoon/evening escape.
