Book Description:

Justin Tracy, the perennial life of the party, is used to being teased by his friends about his success with the ladies. Not that he’ll ever get serious with one. Why should he? His life is absolutely perfect the way it is. But at his brother’s bachelor party, a drunken bet about his womanizing skill gets a little out of control. Before he knows it, his friends have invited his new tenant – a woman he’s never even met – to go to his brother’s wedding with him.

Single mom Maddy Trainor has just moved back to Chicago, ready to reclaim her life and conquer the city. Maddy’s determined to get her new business off the ground and build a happy home for her son, Teddy. She didn’t expect a gorgeous landlord, but ogling Justin Tracy is definitely a bonus to her new apartment.

Justin intends to apologize to Maddy for the out-of-the-blue wedding invitation and get gone, but his new neighbor turns out to be funny, whip-smart, and sexy as hell. Why not take her to the wedding for real? Just as friends, of course. To Maddy, the wedding – one night of champagne and dancing with a self-admitted Peter Pan – sounds like amazing no-strings fun. But the sparks that blaze between the two of them can’t be contained to one night. And two people who think they have life figured out are about to realize they know nothing about love …

Ding!

Justin caught her hand and pulled her out of the elevator before the doors even had a chance to fully open. “I’m all the way at the end of the hall.”

He was walking too fast for her sore feet; she tripped in her heels. “Wait. Slow down. My feet. Blisters.”

He assessed the complicated gold sandals. “How long does it take to get those off?”

Given the tiny buckle on the ankle strap … with the way her hands were shaking… She sighed. “Two minutes.”

He grinned, mischief sparking in his eyes. “That’s two minutes too long.” Without another word, he lunged forward and threw her over his shoulder in a fireman’s hold.

Maddy shrieked. She’d never been picked up literally by a man before. Upside down, she felt both ridiculous and ridiculously feminine. Uncontrolled laugher—her noisy, high-pitched kind—bubbled out of her mouth. She wouldn’t have thought she could move from unspeakable arousal to hysterical laughter in the space of five seconds, but apparently that’s what Justin did to her.

“Almost there,” he called.

Another thirty seconds and he carefully set her down. She clung to his shoulders until she stopped quivering. Eyes sparkling, Justin inserted the key card into the lock. “After you.”

“Oh,” she breathed. The room was so pretty. Dark wood furniture, a crisp, white duvet on the bed, and an incredible view of Michigan Avenue.

“The hotel sent up a bottle of champagne as a thank you,” Justin said. “Can I pour you a glass?”

“Please.” She’d stopped drinking at the wedding once the dancing had started. Since that was more than three hours ago, she was stone-cold sober now. And since the laughter had subsided and the fact that she was in a hotel room with a man was sinking in, a glass of liquid courage would be very welcome indeed.

Although ... she wasn’t nervous, actually. There was nothing to be nervous about. She was a grown woman whose child was perfectly safe. For once, her legs were shaved and her bikini area was waxed. She was with a no-strings-attached man, but one who was genuinely kind and committed to his family. Someone funny. Someone trustworthy.

Justin handed her a glass of champagne and finished removing his bow tie.

Someone unbelievably gorgeous. Someone who wanted her badly, if his hungry expression was anything to go by.

She set her champagne glass on the nightstand and slowly turned. “Unzip me?”

Book Description:

I broke her heart ten years ago and left town. She hates me, and rightly so. It doesn’t matter that the rest of the country loves me, that I’m a starting quarterback with a multimillion-dollar contract. Because when I look in the mirror, all I see is a failure who was too young—and too afraid—to fight for what I wanted. But I’m not that guy anymore, and all I need is one shot to convince her. *** He has no idea what happened after he left. And now I’m supposed to work alongside him like we don’t have this huge, messy history? But I’m older now, wiser, and I won’t let anything stand in my way of doing a good job for this league. Not even one overpaid, arrogant player who thinks we’re going to kiss and make up. News flash, buddy: I am over you.

My Review:

If you are looking for a sweet romance, look no further.  I quite enjoyed this second chance romance, even when I wanted to hit the Hero on the head, lol.  Dear Jane is the story of first loves, the mistakes of youth, the fear of failure, the truth in forgiveness, and the knowledge that while we can't go back in time we can go back to the people who have always loved us if we go back with our hearts and minds open.

I really loved Jane.  She is an amazingly resilient heroine, who makes her way in the world on her own terms, through knowledge and hard work.  She has made palace for herself in a man's world and no one questions her right to be there.  I love her and Wes's back story and the way that kendall Ryan weaves in through their current relationship.  While it is a huge part of where they have come from and it plays a part in their coming back together, I loved that it wasn't the reason they came back together, that they find their older, more mature selves just as in love with each other as they had been when they were 'children'.

Wes is also a really great character, when I am not wanting to give him a good shake that is.  He knows what he wants in life and he works hard to get it, never giving up, never backing down.  Problem is he is n't the self-assured, cocky guy that the public thinks he is or that they think he should be.  he is actually quite self-depracating and unsure of himself, especially when it comes to the things that matter the most to him.  Why does he work so hard to be the best quarterback? Because of his fear that he won't be the best.  Why does he run repeatedly away from the love of his life?  Because he is afraid to lose his focus, because he is afraid he can't measure up to the man he believes and he thinks others believe he should be for her.  He is a bit of a conundrum, this star football player with the world at his finger tips, and yet he's afraid to grasp it.

I would have really enjoyed maybe a little more backstory on the why's of his prior relationship failing.  You know me and I like to see karma getting her own when someone deserves is and considering the relationship he is leaving when he switches teams I would have liked to see the outcome of that.  I also wouldn't have minded a closer look at the rivalry between the two teams now that the 'cat is out of the bag' on his prior relationship and since he has moved teams.

Dear Jane is a super quick sweet read and is the perfect book to give you just that little bit of romance you might need.  Its a great choice of book to pick up anytime, but especially when you are in-between reads and maybe not ready for your next 'big emotional' book.

Book Description:

Calvin Landers is a mess. He has a great job and a steady string of men and women in his bed, and has been in love with the same couple for so long he can't remember a time when he wasn't. Coming off fresh heartbreak, he's ready to move on, to give up on romance and sex altogether and moves in with his best friend, Davis, while he looks for something more permanent and tries to figure out what the hell he's doing with his life. Ava Liu isn't looking for anything more than something to distract her from the book she's supposed to be translating. Something to distract her from why the hell she's in River City in the first place. But the boys who share a fence are more than a little distracting and pushy, when they realize just how much Ava needs someone--and how much they all need each other. Sometimes life happens just when you stop looking.

My Review:

So this one is a little hard for me because I have loved this series and it's not that I don't still love it but Whiskey Sour sadly left me wanting.  I loved the idea of this couple, I wanted it to work and on some level it did.  I worked really well between Davis and Ava and Calvin and Davis, but some how the three of them together never felt cohesive.  I never felt like Calvin was truly apart of the relationship, it's more that he knew the only way he could have the love of his life, Davis was to also take on Ava.

I loved the relationship between Calvin and Davis and honestly think this could have been a straight up M/M book and been perfect but Ava feels forced and I can't quite figure out why she's really there.  Is is because Calvin had a Menage relationship prior to this one and so he has to stay in a menage?  I don't think that had to be the case, if Davis is the love of his life as we are told they could have easily settled down together and his menage past would be just that his past.  I liked the friendship of Ava and I will admit when they finally come together as a trio in the bedroom it is HOT, it's just when they are outside of it that I don't get it.

I also am not a huge fan of the story line with the past Menage.  I don't get that, they gave Calvin away and then decide that they want him back and so they start lurking about.  I would be pissed, as Davis rightly is, but honestly Calvin should have been too.

In the end while I enjoyed the story as a whole, actually I quite liked the suspense aspect, it left me questioning and wanting and that was just disappointing.  I will absolutely still read and enjoy this series because I have seen what Nazarea can give us and she can give us some beautiful relationships, (she did here with Calvin and Davis) I just feel liked she may have tried to force something that wasn't really there.  Bring book 5 on through because I am totally in with this series and one book that left me wanting won't ruin all the goodness that came before it or will come after, we can't win them all!

EXCERPT:

There’s a man there, in faded jeans and a green henley and a big grin—although, that grin kind of stutters, dips into confused and speculative as he stares at me.
“Uh. This is—I’m looking for 9800 Blackmore Lane?”
I point to the side, where the old Miller house is sitting in all its innocent glory. “I’m 8900. Go bang on the right door.”
He gives me an apologetic smile and wags a coffee at me.
It’s a coffee from Cool Beans Cafe, something I only get when I can talk Kip into grabbing it before she drops in. And that’s rare enough—she has opinions about how much coffee I drink.
“Peace offering?” he says, with a hopeful little smile that shouldn’t be as charming as it is.
I huff and snatch it from him, inhaling the scent. I give a tiny noise, soft and satisfied. Then I blink, because a stranger is still standing on my porch staring at me, bemused.
“Sorry for snapping,” I mumble.
He laughs. “Sorry for being the unobservant dick who woke you up so early.” I smile at that, pleased, and he extends a hand. “Davis Emmerson. I’m moving into 9800.”
“And you don’t know what it looks like?” I say skeptically.
He laughs and blushes, rubbing the back of his neck in the most adorable display of self-conscious embarrassment I’ve ever seen. “Yeah, no. My best friend is moving in first—he came yesterday. He picked the place. I’m just here for the excellent wifi.”
Oh. Interesting.
“Well, I’m sorry, ma’am. I’ll let you get back to your morning.”
“Ava,” I offer shyly and he glances back at me. “My name. It’s Ava.”
A smile slips over his face and he nods. “You should come by tomorrow. I’m making cookies.”
Surprise flickers in his gaze, but he grins as he backs down the stairs. “I will. See you soon, Miss Ava.”
I breathe through the flush on my skin and shut the door as he hits the sidewalk. Then I sit in my favorite chair and slowly savor my coffee, letting my mind drift aimlessly while I do.
It’s only when the coffee is gone and I’ve dressed and done my makeup for the day—it’s only then that I panic.
I have no fucking clue how to make cookies.

Their first chance at love ended in heartbreak

Wade Rycroft fell in love with Geneva Harris when she was the smartest girl in his class. The rodeo star and the shy academic made for an odd pair, but their chemistry was undeniable. They made plans to get married after high school. Those plans changed when Genny broke his heart. Joining the Army gave him a chance to leave that life behind. A chance encounter rekindles an old flame Fifteen years later, he’s found his place in the world and tried to forget the woman who left him standing in the rain. After leaving the Army he forged a new life as a bodyguard at McKay-Taggart, but he still feels incomplete. When his brother’s wedding brings him home to Broken Bend, Texas, he walks into a storm of scandal. Genny’s marriage has dissolved, the town has turned against her, and someone is making threats. Seeing her again reawakens feelings he thought were long gone, and he worries that staying close enough to help her could be too much to bear. Their reunion just might kill them both After an attempt is made on Genny’s life, Wade can’t refuse to help her. Watching over her day and night, it’s clear that having her back in his life could be the thing to finally make him whole. When the danger follows them back to Dallas, their second chance at love could be over before it even begins.

My Review:

This book is going to be a little bit hard for me to review. Why you may ask?  Well, because in reading this book I became Big Tag. I am not ready for the changes to come (leaving behind the Masters and Mercenaries series) and yet excited about the future to come.

Protected is a book about second chance love but it is also a book about change and acceptance.   One of those I throughly enjoy, the other makes me a tad bit nervous, ha.  I loved getting to know the two main characters in this story.  We've already met Wade but to know how broken he really was and honestly how much more broken he becomes as each new discovery comes to light for him in this book was an emotional ride.  I truly felt for him.  Of course his pain in the end was nothing compared to what Geneva endured in her attempt to protect the man she was meant to love for a lifetime.  It makes you wonder exactly what you would do for the people you love.  Sidenote:  I have to say like Wade, I am not sure I can ever forgive his brother.  Oh and I adored, ADORED Geneva's son!

As usually happens with a novella there isn't much I can talk about with out giving away the story so I won't delve deep into the plot, but know that it is totally intriguing and page turning.  The character development of these two while most of that happens individually for them before they get together watching their characters grow together was totally swoon worthy and as with any Lexi Blake book the steaminess is just right.  This book doesn't delve as much into the BDSM world as many of her Masters and Mercenaries books but its there and you won't feel as though you are missing out since it isn't as prominent to the storyline.  Out of all the Masters and Mercenaries couples, this one may be the most vanilla of the group and that's just fine.

While you can totally pick this up and read without having read any of the other books in the series, which 1,001 Dark Nights Novellas do so well, I would say that you will be missing out on the little of the heart in this book if you don't know the back story and why Big Tag is feeling the way he does.  So if you are able please give the entire series a go, I know it's a long one, you won't regret it and if this is your first Masters and Mercenaries read, well, welcome to the club, we're happy you've joined us!

~ HAPPY READING ~

Excerpt:

“Don’t. Don’t tell me how to feel. I know you’ve worked through this, but I don’t know how to.” “It helps to admit that we were all children back then.” “My mother wasn’t.” He needed to talk about this with her. “No, but she wasn’t the same after your dad died. She was lost and I’ve forgiven her,” she replied quietly. “You can’t spend your life being angry.” “You’re angry with me.” For a moment he thought she would ignore him. Then she turned to him, her eyes shining in the moonlight. “Maybe. It’s hard to figure out how I feel about you. For a long time, I dreamed about you at night. You were the only man I ever loved. Brock killed that. I think he might have killed the part of me that can love someone other than my son. I didn’t feel a lot when my father passed. But then he was the one who told me to suck it up. I went to him after Brock hit me the first time. He told me to not make my husband mad.” “Genny, he should have killed him. I would have. God, I should have.” That sorrow that had been building inside him threatened to spill over. Anger was there, but it was overshadowed by the terrible pain he felt at the thought of her being alone and afraid. “It’s funny,” she said, studying him in the silvery light. “I went over pretty much every possible scenario I could, and this wasn’t the way I thought you would handle it. It’s why it took forever for me to talk to you. I thought you would either not care at all or that you would be so angry you went after everyone. I hesitated because I thought I might unleash a beast.” He could give her this. Since the moment he’d learned the truth, he’d genuinely forced himself to think about how he reacted. It would be selfish to act out in anger when she needed him to be calm, to think about what was best for her. The drive from Broken Bend to Dallas with Ash had made that clear to him. They needed someone who would thoughtfully protect them, not a raging animal who fed his own needs. “You’ve had enough anger in your life. It’s there. God, it’s there, but I swear I won’t act on it because I won’t do anything that could hurt you. I’ll try to handle him in every legal way I can and if I have to take him out, I’ll do it in a way that can never come back on any of us. You don’t need my rage. You do need me though.” “I don’t want to.” “Because you think I’ll let you down again.” It wasn’t a question. “Because I don’t want to love anyone again,” she admitted.

Behind the doors of the House of Sin, no one is ever safe… I love him. It’s the only truth that matters now. I’ve cast my old life aside and given myself fully to his wants and desires, to the fire he alone ignites inside me. And together, we’ve found strength and salvation in each other. But there are evil forces, people who see me as a threat that must be undone. I trust that our love can withstand any test, but I can’t ignore the growing shadows lurking beyond our door. Because I understand now that those shadows are not waiting to destroy me as I once feared. They’ve come for him. To steal him away from me for good. And to finally and completely engulf him in a sinister world he’s eluded for so long. In the inescapable darkness of the House of Sin…

My Review:

This was an interesting series for me, one that I will admit in the beginning I wasn't sure I was going to like it, but by the end I was completely enraptured with.

Throughout the series we have watched Natalie and Luc fall into a deep and honest love.  There were moments of frustration with them where I almost put the book down and stepped away from it, but when all is said and done their mutual lust and first sight becomes a bond that can be torn away and I loved that about this story.  I loved that even when one of them was all drama they never let it stay with them for long.  They learned the very hard lesson of trust and communication and it tool all three books to get there, but it was worth it in the end.

As odd as it may seem, another thing I loved were the truly emotionally painful moments. This book has some pretty darn moments, moments that might leave the reader completely disgusted with the nature of the 'Sin' that occurs, and honestly it should.  It should leave you appalled at what these people think acceptable and even at times I was appalled with Luc for not standing up to fight it sooner.  I see his reasoning but at the same time you just want to yell at him to make it all stop.  It does all come to a head in the most dramatic ways, and it will leave you shocked at the brutality of it but also cheering because finally, FINALLY the good guys are winning.

Thankfully for us, the reader, Elisabeth does a wonderful job of taking these harsh moments and bringing them back down and luckily it's mostly through some pretty damn hot steamy moments, ha. I also loved that her characters acknowledged that they used sex as a way to communicate with each other, to find their common and stable ground.  I read so many romance books where every time the characters have a problem the have sex and suddenly everything is okay.  There was a moment in this story where I started to feel that, ugh, not again...can't you just talk to one another feeling but just at that age moment Luc recognized that they weren't fixing their relationship but by having these steam filled moments they were reconnecting and allowing themselves to take a moment and remember who they are together.  It was a really bright spot for me to have the characters say 'yeah, we know, every time you turn around we're making up in a bed but we aren't, not really, we're just coming back together so that we can talk.'

I really adored this love story, even without all the drama that unfolded around them.  They took us on quite the ride but each step of the way they showed the reader that love does not come easy, it must be worked on, couple must trust in one another, they must communicate, they must forgive.  In the end I love the way it wrapped up for Natalie and Luc, it honestly could not have ended any better...wait, well unless someone took care of Luc's mom, I would have been all down for that, but maybe she'll get hers yet because I’m going crazy feeling like this is not quite the end....dun dun duuuuuuunnnnnn.  Elisabeth Naughton wraps of Luc and Natalie's story, they are HEAing it up right now and I am so happy for them but she leaves just this little hanging possibility that the story isn't quite over and I am totally ready for more!

After dumping her cheating fiancé, caring for her sick dad, and nearly being crushed along with her car during a violent storm, she’s pretty much at her breaking point. If anyone needs some luck, it's Jordan, but the last thing she wants is gorgeous Nick Rinaldi, her landlord’s grandson, hovering over her while she nurses a bad cold. The wounded Navy doctor seems too good to be true... which means he probably is.

Nick Rinaldi left the Navy broken and adrift, wondering if he would ever practice medicine again. When his grandparents' tenant is almost killed by a falling tree during a storm, he discovers Jordan is not only in shock, but suffering from pneumonia. Not one to miss an opportunity to play white knight, Nick arrives at her cottage to take care of her during the storm... But the lovely teacher has a fierce independent streak, and as he learns more about her, he wants to do more than merely help.

Can Jordan and Nick let go of their separate pasts and seize their future together?

The deep rattling cough woke her from a restless sleep. This cold was kicking her ass, but even though all she wanted to do was burrow under the covers, she was out of tissues, and the dog needed to go outside.

Glancing out her window, the weather had worsened. She almost would have been content putting out a pad for Gertie to go inside, but her tissues and cough medicine were in the back seat of her car. She had to go out regardless.

“Come on, Gertie, time to pee.”

With a whimper and a moan from her spot at the other end of the couch, her little rescue buried her face in the corner. Gertie was no dummy.

“Look, if I have to go out, so do you. Your bladder is the size of a thimble, and it’s going to get even worse later.”

The dog sighed—sighed her annoyance at Jordan. A dog with an attitude. Didn’t it figure? Gertie practically rolled off the plush cushion and settled on her back on the blue patterned rug. Her short little legs were straight up in the air, feigning death.

Jordan felt pretty dead herself, but they still had to go outside.

The wind howled, and all the windows in the cottage shook like it was going to lift up and fly away. Gust after gust provided a not-so-subtle reminder that the nor’easter currently blowing across Long Island was going to make all their lives miserable. This storm was brutal. It had been wreaking havoc for the last twelve hours and based on the latest weather report it had slowed down to a crawl, meaning it was going to stick around for a while.

Grabbing the dog’s leash, Jordan gently nudged the little furry blob on the floor. Nothing. She didn’t budge. “Gertie! Come on!”

Ninety-nine percent of the time, she loved the little mutt. This moment definitely fell into the one percent.

After she broke her engagement, Jordan had the sudden urge to have a pet. A lot of people told her it would pass, but she knew that wasn’t the case. Jordan needed unconditional love in her home, so she kept her eyes open for the right opportunity. She couldn’t handle a puppy or a kitten, so when she wandered around a rescue fair one Sunday this past September, she found herself completely enamored with Gertie. A stubby-legged little mutt, Gertie was a tube of golden fur with a pointy snout and big, soulful brown eyes. She was about five years old, and her owner had just died, leaving the little dog all alone.

Jordan felt a kinship with the pooch, and took her home that day.

Lina Rinaldi, who usually frowned on her cottage tenants having pets, took to the dog right away, and Gertie loved the older woman right back.

As Jordan stared at the lump still upside down on the floor, she was about ready to offer Mrs. Rinaldi full custody. Then a deep, rasping cough shook Jordan to the core. It racked her body violently, and pain shot around her chest. God, she felt awful.

“Come on,” she said firmly to the pooch. “We’ll skip the leash this time. Out and in. Let’s get this over with.”

Gertie rolled over and trotted to the front door, giving Jordan the side eye as she waited. Donning her parka and a pair of lined wellies that she pulled over her pajama pants, Jordan grabbed the remote and unlocked her car. When she opened the front door, she was hit by a blast of wind, rain, and sleet that stung her cheeks and chilled her to the bone. “Lord, it’s miserable.” Looking down at Gertie, she nodded. “Okay, let’s make this quick.”

The two of them bolted outside, with Gertie heading for her favorite patch of grass and Jordan heading for her car. She stopped when she coughed so hard she could barely breathe. It hurt. She’d never had a chest cold that hurt so much. Finally, yanking open the door, she heard her pooch barking from the small covered porch. Jordan grabbed the bag that was filled with some basic food provisions, juice, tea, tissues, and a selection of over-the-counter cold remedies. She slammed the car door shut, and on her way back inside she noticed the whitecaps on Jennings Bay. The wind was forcing massive amounts of water into the coves and harbors around town, and she hoped the it didn’t breach the seawall surrounding the property. Jordan’s cottage was closer to Cove Road, but the Rinaldis’ big house was at risk.

Without any further delay, Jordan made it back to the porch, feeling chilled and soaked to the bone despite all the foul weather gear she’d put on. Gertie was barking frantically, having positioned herself under the old wooden swing, and Jordan was starting to lose her patience.

“Gertie, what the hell is the problem?”

That’s when she heard the groan and crack. Jordan looked up just as a large section of an old oak tree, about fifty feet from the house, gave way. Throwing her body against the wall to avoid any debris, Jordan watched as the massive tree split in half and came crashing down, crushing her car in the process.

If she had waited ten more seconds to head outside, Jordan would have been killed.

Frozen in place for—she didn’t know how long—Jordan startled when a large, strong arm wrapped around her.

She looked away from the wreckage in the front yard and into the gorgeous face of Nick Rinaldi.
“Damn. Are you alright?”

Was she? She wasn’t sure. Jordan tried to answer, but she had trouble catching her breath. Sucking in air, he kept her steady when they walked into the house.

Waiting for the dog before he closed the door, Nick sat her on the bench in the entryway. Glancing in the canvas tote from the market, his brow furrowed.

“You’re sick? What’s wrong?”

With a low rattling cough that had him pressing the back of his hand to her forehead, she muttered, “Chest cold.”

Shaking his head, he helped her off with her boots and jacket. “Let’s get you settled in bed, and I’ll go get my bag. You’ve got a lot more than a chest cold.”

“My car…”
“We can’t do anything about your car until the storm passes, so put it out of your head. It’s the last thing you need to worry about.”

“Are you kidding? Not worry about it?” How was she supposed to get to work or see her dad? How was she supposed to do anything if she didn’t have a car? The pain in her chest wasn’t just from her cough at that moment, but at the wave of dread—helplessness—that rushed through her.

“One thing at a time.” Nick, a former Navy doctor, was single minded. And as much as Jordan didn’t want to admit it, he was right. In this weather, there was nothing she could do.

“Come on,” he said. “Lead the way.”

“I’ll be fine,” she said, stopping in her tracks. Those few words taxed her already strained system. She coughed painfully into her arm while Nick guided her into her room. The coughing spell was so violent, ripping at her tender lungs, she couldn’t even object as he tucked her into bed.

Sick as she was, Jordan wasn’t blind. Nick Rinaldi had been on her radar since he landed back in Compass Cove the previous fall. The guy was gorgeous, smart, and a gentleman to the core. But he’d settled back in with his grandparents almost six months ago, and other than a token hello, or a polite smile, he rarely spoke to her.

Still, with his lean frame, dark hair, and kind eyes, he checked a lot of boxes.

She thought she heard him mutter something about being stubborn, but her lack of breath didn’t allow a response. If anyone was stubborn, he was. The man of mystery was a well-known do-gooder, and obviously she was his next project. There was only one problem with that. She didn’t want his help. Needing people was a slippery slope, and Jordan had no intention of heading down that way again.
